Never thought it would be so hard to pick a name that both me and OH agree on. We keep changing our minds but this week the favourite is 'Lydia Mae'.

I love it! a school friend of mine is called Abigail Lydia, Ive always loved her name.

SE13Mummy · 12/10/2010 20:37

Lydia is lovely (as is Madeleine, both are place names as is Bethany).

I'd choose Kate, Ruth, Hope, Mary, Jane, Claire, Rachel, Charlotte or maybe Rosalind as a middle name.

Rach109 · 12/10/2010 20:14

Love the name Lydia :)
as for middle names, unless you have a family name to use ?? I like Rose & Grace
def not Mae but May is ok

smilingserenely · 12/10/2010 20:05

love it my dd age 14 is lydia naomi hannah

often known as lydie ,lyd or to her closest

friends teapot which doesn't seem to bother

her in the slightest

Faaamily · 12/10/2010 19:18

Lydia is beautiful. Mae not my cup of tea, nor May.

Guacamole · 12/10/2010 19:17

I like it very much...
Although I prefer the spelling May (more traditional).

sleepyhorse · 12/10/2010 19:08

I think Lydia Grace is lovely and sounds very classy. What about Lydia Rose?

Pasiphae · 12/10/2010 14:31

I much prefer Madeleine. Lydia is tooo fussy for my liking.
Strangely, I do like Lydie.

QuickLookBusy · 12/10/2010 14:25

Yes Lydia is lovely, have one in the family and she is so sweet.

It is shortened to Lydi, but she also referred to as Little Miss Sunshine-because she radiates happiness.[well most of the time!]

Tortington · 12/10/2010 14:01

love it

Notyetamummy · 12/10/2010 14:01

Lydia is lovely. I particularly love Lydia Catherine.

Lynli · 12/10/2010 14:01

Lydia in my family is called Lydia dustbin.

But I like it anyway.

I love the name Lydia- how about Lydia Helen I like Lydia Catherine too.

FullaDoll · 12/10/2010 12:30

I think Lydia sounds a bit dated, although I do like it. As for Mae, don't get me started. It seems every girl and her dog born over the last few years has the middle name Mae.

FernieB · 12/10/2010 12:28

Much prefer Madeline. A friends daughter is Lydia. She was trying to find the top of the biscuit tin once and asked 'where's the lid?'. A little voice piped up 'here I am!'.

She is always referred to as Lyd and it sounds awful.

123nellyc · 12/10/2010 09:03

Thanks guys. Think we will stick with Lydia but with no middle name. We also like Madeline/Maddie but unsure because of the stigma around it.

DD is Lydia (Lydia Athene fyiw)

Obviously we quite like it Grin It's not so unusual that people look askance when they hear it, but it's quirky enough that she's the only one in her school.

TotorosOcarina · 11/10/2010 19:21

Lydia was our first choice for DD for ages, but then we heard 'Lydia Chlamydia' and 'Lydia teapot' and it put me right off.

MortBlacksand · 11/10/2010 19:20

I like the name alot but it would make me hum the Tattooed Lady whenever we met....

said · 11/10/2010 19:14

Great name. Not overly popular. I always imagine Lydia's growing into Sarah Parish look and soundalikes. Agree that it deserves a nicer name than Mae

Francagoestohollywood · 11/10/2010 19:06

Lydia is a lovely name, that doesn't really need another one. Lydia.

pointydog · 11/10/2010 19:06

Don;t like it. Sounds prim.

Flossie69 · 11/10/2010 19:04

My niece is Lydia Rose. I think that is a lovely combination.
