Sibling Name for Isabella

We picked Isabella for DD in 2003 just before it boomed into popularity. I'd like to find a girls name that isn't quite so top ten, that goes with it. I think at least three syllables and mn suggestions too please?

Alexandra

Josephine

Felicity

Is she an 'Isabella' or an NN in day to day life?

Saskia

Marietta

Vivienne (or is this prn with 2 syllables in English?)

MentalFloss · 07/10/2010 21:09

With Isabella I quite like:
Abigail
Alexandra
Aurora
Beatrice
Camilla
Claudia
Emmaline
Francesca
Genevieve
Juliet
Meredith
Naomi
Rosalind
Violet

Maybe with a shorter middle name such as:
Jane
Joan
Anne
Mary

charlotte

MuffinMouse · 07/10/2010 21:13

She keeps the full version.

FUB really like your suggestions. Marietta hadn't occurred to me. Had thought of Marianna, Mariella (too much?)

MentalFloss love Francesca - but cant cope with Fran
Genevieve and Juliet are on my list - but DH vetoed G
Can't use the others due to friends DC.

Any more very appreciated!

Mariella and Isabella is too rhymey. Marianna is OK but Marietta works much better IMHO.

Liked Claudia too.

I think with longer names you need to sort of mirror (IYSWIM) rather than match.

(Can you tell this is something I've had to think about Wink)

MuffinMouse · 07/10/2010 21:21

Is Mariella to much?
Or is Marietta better? I prefer the flow of the first..

I'd also go for Alexandra or Francesca, or maybe Susanna. I do like Juliet too. Or Miranda.

74claire · 08/10/2010 00:06

Do you not wait till you meet your child to name it?

What about Zaria Marianna? (two syllable surname).

OP posts:
FerminaUrbinoDaza · 08/10/2010 19:23

Not to my taste I'm afraid. Also it sounds a bit like sharia (law), if I'm pronouncing it right). That, rightly or wrongly, might not be such a positive association in the current climate.

5DollarShake · 08/10/2010 19:27

I know a Francesca who goes by Cesca/Ces, just to possibly throw that name back into the ring. :)

Conundrumish · 08/10/2010 19:40

Or Francesca = Frankie

ValiumSingleton · 08/10/2010 20:28

Claudia is a good suggestion, goes really well with Isabella but isn't as popular.

Giullia is also lovely.

I know a Francesca who is known as Chessie - much nicer than Fran as a NN!
