Love it - what do others think? Too try hard / great aunt-like??

Alternative is Beatrice.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I secretly really love it and met an incredibly lovely little Audrey the other week. But it is quite bound up for me in women my mum's age - she has 2 friends called Audrey, so although I love it I couldn't use it. I prefer it to Beatrice though tbh.

I do like Agnes...

i just can't like them... REALLY would have loved to use my late granny's name as middle name for dd, but it was maud, and i just cannot bring myself to not loathe it Blush. i have tried...

I would guess it is about to become popular here - I think it already is in the US, maybe because they haven't got Coronation Street / To The Manor Born issues to contend with...Same with Nora, another great name - no Last Of The Summer Wine problems over there!I also think Maude (with an "e") is beautiful...

Rhubarbgarden · 04/10/2010 11:17

My dd is Audrey so I love it! I hope it isn't about to become popular.

Bagpusstree · 04/10/2010 08:36

Sorry, not to my taste. Although I love Audrey Hepburn, its Audrey Roberts that springs immediately to mind.

Much prefer Beatrice.

ja9 · 04/10/2010 08:33

Hate it. It's the 'au' sound as in 'maud'. Truly awful. Makes me shudder. Sorry.

simplysurreal · 04/10/2010 08:27

I like Audrey a lot I know quite a few baby Beatrice's.

5DollarShake · 04/10/2010 08:09

I surprise myself by actually quite liking Audrey. I think it is about to become more popular, along the lines of Beatrice and Florence (neither of which I'm keen on).

mathanxiety · 04/10/2010 06:00

I love Audrey (I think of Tatou too), and also love Beatrice. Sorry no help. You can't go wrong.

Audrey is a bit more glamorous, while Beatrice is more regal imo.

Clary · 04/10/2010 00:40

How funny, I know a small Audrey and she was almost Beatrix!

I like Audrey and good for name checks - Audrey Hepburn, Audrey Tatou etc.

AllarmBells · 03/10/2010 23:40

sorry for double post - weird things happened

AllarmBells · 03/10/2010 23:40

I like Beatrice, shortened to Bea, reminds me of Rupert. Bill Badger has a little cousin called Bea, she has such cute little desert boots.....

I agree with sinking about Audrey. I like it as a name but it's too tied up with Audrey Roberts.

I prefeer it to Beatrice

Sinkingfeeling · 03/10/2010 23:21

We seriously considered Audrey for our dd3, but I wanted to think Audrey Hepburn while visions of Audrey Roberts just kept floating uninvited into my mind ...

I love Beatrice - it's my dd3's middle name.

SparklyJules · 03/10/2010 23:20

I only know two - my mum, who is never anything but Audrey or "Aunt Audrey" and my friend who is a bit crazy and is always "Auds".

I like it better than Beatrice but it's a very "grown up" name, will take a while to grow into I think!
