Boo for a girl?

We have just started thinking about names and I really like Boo for a girl? We have quite a long surname so would like something nice and short. I know it sounds quite cutesy but think the lack of a middle name would help.

Boo is what my 13 month old shouts when he wants to nurse. "Booooooooo! Boo! Booo!"

Alternatively, it's something that children should when they want to scare someone.

These things do not endear me to it as a name!

Oh for the love of god, if you want to use the name Boo, get a pet, don't have a child.

My Dog is also boo but had her long befor monsters inc shes 14.

DS2 is Boo, but as a nn not on his birth certificate. Please don't use Boo on anything official. Or if you do, expect her to change her name to Susan as soon as she's able.

We call our dd1 Boo as a little name, but we wouldn't give it as her given name. We use Boo more than her given name though.

I can't imagine the day in court 'All rise for the honourable Judge Boo *' Grin hence we have a less noticeable formal name for her to use as an adult. She may just use Boo, which is her choice.

blimey with all of the wierd and wonderful names you here now why not, it's sweet, there are numerous blues around now as a christian name its similar to that, my dd is called Ruby and gets ru boo and boo as a pet form, my sons middle name is blue, you should go with your heart when I named my daughter Ruby it was deemed strange and unusual now look at it!

I know of a real life Boo. Her full name not a nn. Everyone who learns the name, without exception, says 'eh, really' in surprised tones, then follows it up with 'that poor child, her school days are going to be hell'.

(said child is with cm not mother when these comments are made btw)

It is a nickname. It might be cute for a little girl, and although I really don't think that names and professions go together, it is hardly a name for an adult. I honestly think it would be cruel. I know a lot of people who nickname their children boo (as a result of monsters inc), so you can still use it, but please - don't put it on her birth certificate! She would have no choice about whether or not she wanted to have a cutsie girly name for her whole life or not. If you use it as a nickname, then she may decide to keep it, but give her a real name and let her choose.

Our dd has the nickname Bow (after ds announcing after her birth that Princess Rainbow was a much nicer name than the one we chose and it seems everyone agrees and she is mostly called Bow or Rainbow!) Anyway we have received no end of comment on this by those who don't know it is not her real name and I imagine that you would find the same if you named your baby Boo, keep it as a nickname.

Isn't is a dimunitive of Elizabeth - Lizzy Boo or something? Call her Boo as a nickname but you need to give her a proper name too. She is, after all, going to turn into a grown woman.
