And Orlando, Lysander & RafeGrin

diddl · 07/10/2010 08:05

Like Isaac & Jacob nn Jake.

nooka · 07/10/2010 06:23

I think that your dh's choices and yours are close enough that you'll probably be able to find something in the middle that you both like. Your dh is perhaps slightly more conformist than you, as his names are more mainstream/current, but Quinn is a bit closer to your choices.

MsHighwater · 06/10/2010 22:09

tf35, Issac might be a real name (somewhere) but if you were to use it for your ds, the majority of people would assume you had misspelled Isaac.

I find your dh's choices a teensy bit poncy but generally OK. With my dd now at school, I am coming across loads more kids's names so I think I'm becoming de-sensitised. :-)

Rach109 · 06/10/2010 22:02

All are ok apart from Quinn! and prefer Jacob to Jake

My fave is Isaac and then Finn but I prefer Flynn

mathanxiety · 04/10/2010 06:03

I really love Isaac and Louis.

Quinn, Jake and Finn are way too of the moment.

Zac is nice but only if short for Zachary or Zacchaeus.

sophiesmummie · 03/10/2010 22:00

Balloon, Quinn comes from the original and Irish name Ó Cuinn, ie descendants of Conn. It means wisdom or counsel.

You're might be mixing it up with the latin word Quintus (fifth). Names derived from this include Quentin.

But, I know several Quentins and Octavias who aren't necessarilly the fifth i.e. eightth child in the family. Don't think meanings matter that much personally.

Totallyfloaty35 · 03/10/2010 21:42

Balloon, Issac is a variant of Isaac and means Laughter, so ner ner to you......however i did just spell Isaac wrong in the first place Blush but i should get away with it as its not my choice.
As for Quinn i'm not keen on it, but yes i do already have a lot of children Wink

Issac - like it
Louis - ok
Zac - Don't like - sounds harsh
Quinn - love it
Jake - a little common
Finn - too popular

BalloonSlayer · 03/10/2010 21:24

If you can't spell Isaac you shouldn't even consider it.

To my mind, Quinn means "one of five" so anyone who calls their child that who hasn't got four other kids is an ignoramus. Although prepared for it to be me who is the ignoramus Grin

rachel234 · 03/10/2010 21:18

I love Quinn (so much nicer and less common than Finn).

Louis is nice too. Not keen on the others.

WinkyWinkola · 03/10/2010 21:15

Orlando is a great name.

Quinn = an Irish sur name to me. Reminds me of supermarkets tbh. SuperQuinn, Quinnsworth and Quinn Insurance. Bonkers choice from where I'm standing.
Isaac - I like it
Louis - I like it but I prefer Leo
Zac - ok, but I would use Zachary in full. Zac is too Zac Ephron.

Jake - I like it but again, I'd use Jacob rather than Jake tbh. Zachary and Jacob sound great but Jake and Zac have a differnt feel.

Finn - ok, but there are a lot of them and I think in years to come they will all turn out to have been born between 2006 and 2011.

WinkyWinkola · 03/10/2010 20:01

They're nice names, TotallyFloaty35.

Quinn is the best one. Or Quincy like Quincy Jones.

The others are really really popular at the moment.

Tippychoocks · 03/10/2010 19:50

I can't find your other thread OP, am I being thick?
