Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like Soren for a boy (I know one man with this name and he is a big strong man, like his name) and I liked Torryn (BBC has a Torryn Douglas).

For a girl Melody is the best from your list.

However, if I was picking 'out there' names at the moment I would go for Finn for a boy aand Mirrin for a girl.

ChessyEvans · 28/10/2010 16:30

Loved reading through all this! Has made me think twice as am going for very 'sensible' names! Poor DH will think it's the hormones when I go home tonight and start suggesting Aspen, Cedar, etc...

So Arizona I think today is your due date, will be checking back for further news! I really like Peregrine although think Sky would be a very cool name for a boy as well. With the names of your other 3 you can hardly go for Jack can you!

Looking forward to seeing what you decide Smile

DanceOnTheDarkSide · 28/10/2010 13:33

was just wondering if there was any news.

And you got me further up the thread too you meany!

lola0109 · 28/10/2010 13:27

I love how you don't let it bother you.

Apparently 1 in 5 parents regret their name choice but the most common regret is the ones who go for Oliver/Jack/Olivia/Ruby etc.

My aunt had 5 kids and all had "unusual" names at the time, youngest is 16, but 4 out of the 5 names are quite popular now, Pascal being the only one I've not heard of since.

FWIW I love your name choices but I think its great you've considered giving them "normal" middles names in case they want to change!

Although, I do think when Baby Arizona arrives you're going to come on here and announce a name that wasn't even on your radar! :)

Thegraveyardshoshe · 28/10/2010 11:38

Halwn - Salt Arthurian legend name of the father of Huarwar the Hungry.

Aicken - Variant of Anglo-Saxon Aiken, meaning made of oak

Wine - Anglo-Saxon name meaning friend (should go down well on here Grin)

arizonagirl · 28/10/2010 11:07

Hey, stop getting me back onto Beauden!!!! No, I am still waiting - getting a bit fed up now. Time to think of some more names Wink.

DitaVonCheese - Skyler is pronounced to rhyme with Tyler (although I don't really like that name!) BonzoDooDah - someone has been slating me for my name choices on another very geeky forum - no names mentioned. May feel tempted to ask for this thread to be removed once baby exists as I don't want his/her name being slated everywhere over the internet (especially as I have mentioned the other names). But I would never do that yet (and don't know if you can anyway) because you have all been absolutely wonderful and have helped me enormously.

I promise to let you all know when little one has arrived safely. Thanks everyone - you have been fantastic and helped so much in our name choice. Grin

Ooh [hopes that arizona is now reconsidering beauden] :)

DitaVonCheese · 27/10/2010 11:44

I've just googled Beauden and found mention of this thread except this one.

Though ... Beauden may be to some ladies' tastes Wink

BonzoDooDah · 27/10/2010 11:26

SmallClanger what do you mean this is all over the internet? Have the journalists been lurking? Any links?

arizona how are you doing? Any twinges? Must be time now surely?

DitaVonCheese · 26/10/2010 23:17

Love this thread and your attitude OP :)

Just marking my place really, I'm desperate to know what you end up with!

Is Skylar pronounced to rhyme with Tyler or is it more as though you were going to say skylark but stopped before you were finished? I do like Cloud btw ...

TheSmallClanger · 26/10/2010 15:32

This is all over the internet now.

Sonnet Melody sounds like the make and model name of an ugly, cheaply-produced hybrid-fuel city car made in a former communist state in southeast Asia.

Either that, or the make and model name of a cheap, plasticky mobile phone that you get free with a basic contract, also manufactured in a former communist state in southeast Asia.

FairyArmadillo · 26/10/2010 10:25

Was a fan of Indigo Sky on your other thread!

I think unusual or far out names don't sound too bad once they're in use. I like "strange names" (even if I gave DS the most common name on my eclectic shortlist) but even I laughed in private when my friend gave her son a really far out and double barrelled Old Testament name. That was years ago, and it just sounds normal now. People get over it!

lowrib · 26/10/2010 00:46

FWIW I think like Beauden .

If you can forget the association with the company Boden (and I know it's a Mnet thing, but it's not exactly high street is it? Loads of people have probably never heard of it) then I think it's actually a nice, strong sounding name.

Sorry Grin

(I like Sky too if that helps!)

arizonagirl · 25/10/2010 23:56

Thanks for your preferences - I think I agree, so SBA it is. CrazyPlateLady - not everybody's cup of tea (or plate of cake Wink) but we get lots of nice comments and they love their names.

FairyAmradillo - yes, still here and patiently waiting. Suspect it will be anytime in the next few days. Will keep you posted although I think we are finally decided (although there was a brief discussion of Indigo earlier!!)

This is random but there was an Autumn on Hells Kitchen this year. Made me think of you, Arizona.

I've been lurking on this thread for ages checking if you've had your baby and what name you chose for it.

CrazyPlateLady · 25/10/2010 20:10

Awful awful awful names.

I really do feel sorry for your children.

JustKeepSparkling · 25/10/2010 06:40

I agree with SBA too :)

It has a sort of 'rhythm' to it.
(Plus if he wants a 'boring' name later he can use that.)

LetThereBeRock · 24/10/2010 23:12

SBA is much nicer than SBW.

arizonagirl · 24/10/2010 23:08

No!!! Still waiting for little Beauden's arrival Wink. Lola0109 - I think I was mixing you up with Bagpusstree. I don't blame you for lurking on here - I am going to miss you lot so much once our bundle arrives.

Will keep you all posted and thanks again. Oh and Bagpusstree: What a great suggestion 'Skyler Arizona' Wink.

Still keep wondering whether Skyler Beau Alexander is as nice as Skyler Beau Winter. but dh thinks we should put one masculine name in there just to clarify any question of gender. Let me know if you think I am right - time to change Grin

JustKeepSparkling · 24/10/2010 09:50

Any news Arizona? :)

lola0109 · 22/10/2010 14:20

Arizona, my little one is 6mo! I've not been waiting.

I'm going to get flamed here but I've been browsing the name threads as my SIL is expecting and planning on stealing our boys name! Grin so just trying to come up with alternatives! Blush

Hopefully maybe next year I'll be looking for myself again, but I too had a risky delivery so DP against it!

arizonagirl · 22/10/2010 10:47

Don't worry - it's still Skyler - but yes, ladystitt, you are in trouble and banned from using Beauden Wink.

Lola0109 - you have been missed. Do you have your little one yet???? Been wondering about you.

OP posts:
Bagpusstree · 22/10/2010 09:42

Sorry for typo, one handed typing!

Bagpusstree · 22/10/2010 09:41

Oh ladystitt, you are in so much trouble! We've now come full circle and are back to Beauden Confused

Sykler arizona, Skyler!

lola0109 · 22/10/2010 07:48

I love beauden/boden! I do like skylar though!

Do you think you'd regret not using beauden?
