Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Cut the Skyler. Beau Alexander is much better.

I say this as a Mum of a Beau myself Wink

Hope it all goes well for you Smile

arizonagirl · 30/10/2010 21:58

Thank you. Skyler Beau Alexander it is. I totally agree with you - just wanted your valued opinion.

theretheyare · 30/10/2010 20:25

Alexander for sure.

LetThereBeRock · 30/10/2010 19:50

Definitely Alexander. Arizona sounds silly and/or like a porn star.

pinguwings · 30/10/2010 19:45

Skyler Beau Alexander - to me Arizona sounds a bit girly.

Sonnet Melody Rose is lovely, think the second middle name has to be one syllable in order to flow nicely.

Love your name ideas btw, wish wish wish I was brave enough. Good luck!

arizonagirl · 30/10/2010 18:39

Evening!! Bored now! Not even worried anymore - just want to get this lark going.

And now I am having second thoughts after all the Arizona references. Still love the name Arizona.

So wanted your thoughts:

Skler Beau Alexander OR
Skyler Beau Arizona

Any thoughts? They do sound similar but one is definitely masculine and strong whilst the other is just a name I love.

I think we are settled on Sonnet Melody Rose although I keep wondering if Rose is a bit boring and perhaps makes the name sound old-fashioned - rather contradictory but Rose is an original dated name.

If I get chance, will let you know when I go into labour Grin. Knowing my luck it will be tomorrow - Halloween Hmm.

FimboBBINGFORAPPLES - hope you had a good break!

Bah I have been away for a week and came back thinking you would have had the little one. Good luck and I am sure whatever you finally decide on, will be lovely [hgrin]

arizonagirl · 30/10/2010 11:01

Yes, CheerfulYank - I know, I know. Trust you Wink. Autumn and Ocean were pure coincidence and if I am totally honest I found out about Sonnet after Ocean's birth. I really liked it but thought nothing more of it - until I started thinking about unusual names when I got pregnant again. I had also mentioned the name to dh who really liked it and didn't take on board the Whitaker thing - tbh I don't really know who he is over here.

And don't worry - there won't be a True!!!

Oh, Mitchymum, I liked Arizona - a lot - but this lot put me off by telling about a cheap brand of clothing in the States Sad.

And DinahRod, Mathanxiety - me and dh were debating Soren again fwiw. It is nice but dh knew a really grumpy Soren and I really like Skye as a nn so I think we have come to a stand still. Arizona is nice though, as is Indigo...and Soren....

OP posts:
Mitchymum · 30/10/2010 10:38

Good luck - Soren is brilliant.

And, if a girl, you could already have found the brilliant name, cos Arizona is lovely.

lola0109 · 30/10/2010 10:36

Good luck when the time comes arizona!

I was thinking of you this morning when i was reading my autumn/winter catologue! :)

mathanxiety · 30/10/2010 05:11

[hshock] CheerfulYank

Curiouser and curiouser.

CheerfulYank · 30/10/2010 02:11

Has it been pointed out that Forest Whitaker has kids named Autumn, Ocean, True...and Sonnet? :)

CheerfulYank · 30/10/2010 01:38

Don't taunt me with Indigo, I love it so. :)

And psh Apple, where were you a million pages ago?! We're pleased with the decision now :o

arizonagirl · 30/10/2010 00:01

Grin what a lovely post DinahRod - thank you!!! Still waiting - saw midwife today - baby not engaged still but now late!!!

I have to say Soren is nice...and is the one name I keep coming back to (oh, and Indigo).

Promise to let you know - if I disappear for a few days it is because I end up having to stay several nights in hospital Sad

DinahRod · 29/10/2010 23:44

Too late Apple, we're all going to raise a glass to the arrival of Skyler or Sonnet. Arizonagirl's been very patient with us.

[quietly chants Soren, Soren, Soren Grin]

AppleHEAD · 29/10/2010 21:29

Oh please please don't do this to them please!

arizonagirl · 29/10/2010 21:00

I'm going to miss you guys Sad. You have been wonderful and made a really hard task so enjoyable. Thank you.

No news yet. Any day now. Refusing to get too worked up but pretty scared.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 29/10/2010 18:31

AAAAHHHH I can't wait, I really can't. C'mon, Little Arizona!

Mitchymum · 29/10/2010 18:13

All the best Arizonagirl, hope you have a lovely labour, and I'm looking forward to hearing your name, which I am sure will be just perfect for your little one.

arizonagirl · 29/10/2010 12:16

Hi all, still waiting - and DinahRod - yes there is a baby about to arrive - not a ttc scenario. Theretheyare - I know what you mean - I didn't intend to get so involved with my name on mumsnet - baby was definitely going to be Beauden. But it just ended up in a huge thread on how awful all my names were. Other names would have probably stuck - Winter, Indigo eg, although I agree that Winter would have been a huge mistake. And I doubt I would have found out about the funeral connotations of Cypress without mumsnetters. Anyhow, it will be something to talk about and at the end of the day we have found a name we really like - and are going with it despite lots of criticism. So it doesn't feel like our name isn't ours and just a contrived one if you see what I mean.

Hey, I still like Soren but decision is made. And Jupiter is good too but probably just a bit too 'out there'. You are all going to laugh at that now, aren't you. Right, speak to you later. And let you kow any exciting news.

OP posts:
Mitchymum · 29/10/2010 00:03

My final suggestion, given your Arizona and nature links, is Boulder.

Mitchymum · 28/10/2010 23:48

Oh, and given you like nature, what about Sol?

Mitchymum · 28/10/2010 23:48

What about Jupitus?

DinahRod · 28/10/2010 23:35

[We are impatiently waiting for a BA of Skyler/Sonnet and not a TTC aren't we, otherwise could be in for a long wait!]

Agree with Mitchy about Soren, Torryn and Mirrin, they're offbeat fab.

theretheyare · 28/10/2010 23:27

My goodness, I've just read this whole thread from start to finish tonight to find out you haven't had your baby yet! So, first, good luck! I can't wait to hear what name you pick (but my money is on a girl anyway!).

And I know it's mean but I can't help chuckling at you choosing your very unusual name on Mumsnet! How is that conversation going to go when your little one says "Why did you call me Skyler Mum?".... oh because the lovely ladies on Mumsnet vetoed everything else...!

But all the best all the same!
