Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Insertexpletive - you are on my wave length. Have always liked Oakley (dh vetoed it). And we discussed Atlas these last few days but thought it was a bit contrived. I know, I know....

Do quite like Russet. One to keep an eye on.

Dh has just called downstairs:

Snowden?

Like Beauden, nice images, real name ie. Mount Snowden, Lord Snowden etc etc. Meaning is 'snowy peak'. You know, I quite like it....

I really hope baby Winter doesn't arrive today Wink

"but I'd never be brave enough to use it myself."

It's not you that has to be brave - it's the poor kid!

FingonTheValiant · 03/10/2010 12:15

I don't think Russet is any more made up than the others. It's a real word in English, which seems to be good enough for lots of people.

jem1980 · 03/10/2010 12:15

Apparently Russet is a boy name but not widely used:

Didn't think about the Ass in Aspen - might be more of a prob in the US, I would guess...

insertexpletive · 03/10/2010 12:13

I'm on a roll - Atlas?

On a Cedar theme, how about Oakley?

So, I will interpret the above reaction as... not so good. Thanks for taking the time anyway.

Sonnet Melody is to stay. I love it.

Winter Beau - could be persuaded. Cloudydays did have a point, as some others of you wonderful people. I did also think this morning about Autumn having a conversation with Winter - hmmm, could be interesting. And I also did think today that perhaps it would make Autumn's name (which I love) a little less special - as Cloudydays said.

Don't like Storm though - to me, that does sound like a kid with chains and earrings...plus we are looking for a soft, gentle image.

Russett - quite like that actually. Like the connotations, and images it conveys. But I am presuming that is a made up name. Also like Aspen - that is the kind of thing we were looking for. But when I looked into guys' reactions about their names, lots of them had been teased about the 'ass' element - being called asshole etc. Now, I know you think I am intent on choosing a name that would get them bullied anyway. But I am not. I do have a brain, am a professional person, a handful of degrees etc etc. It is purely the fact that I like really unusual names. And my children love their names. Otherwise I would think twice.

Anyhows, having a little think about our boys' choice and will keep all you great people posted Grin

How about Journey? Mystery? Wink

Although it is a soft, nature name we really have been searching for... just like Aspen, even Cedar... but not those.

I think Sonnet Melody is a sweet name! I love Sonnet, actually, but I'd never be brave enough to use it myself. Good for you! Personally I'd use Erin as the second middle name, I think it flows better.

jem1980 · 03/10/2010 11:54

Have you thought about Russet for a boy (nice autumnal connotations, only abbreviation would be 'Russ'?)

Or Aspen (as in the tree, but also implies the place - snow, pine trees etc.)?

Can you imagine introducing your kids "Autumn, Ocean and Storm"!!??

FABULOUS!

I wish I had your guts (although I do feel sorry for the kids a bit. Though I suppose if they ever do an NVQ in Super-powers and become Super-heroes, you'll have the last laugh).

Why would you call a baby Winter when he's due in October? Confused he'll spend the rest of his life with people assuming he's a winter baby, and then doing this Hmm when he says he's not.

thebrightside · 03/10/2010 11:22

You can not call your son Winter if you already have an Autumn.
However much you might like it, you're going to turn their lives in to an anecdote. Everyone who meets them will want to tell people that they've just met a family with "Autumn and Winter." This will probably be accompanied by laughter.
I like your girl's name. Surely you can come up with a better one if he's a he. Beau Alexander are nice middle names.

MadAboutQuavers · 03/10/2010 11:15

My friend is planning to call his DS "Cedar"

It think it's awful
But it's better than Winter when you've already got an Autumn

And it stays with your nature type theme

To answer your question, I prefer

Sonnet Melody Grace

Regarding your boys' names, I like Winter as a name (with nickname Wynn), but agree that together with Autumn might be a bit much.
What about Rowan or Storm?

Faaamily · 03/10/2010 10:14

Sonnet? pa ha ha ha ha. Um, yeh, Sonnet Grace. Um, yeh.

pa ha ha ha

CuppaTeaJanice · 03/10/2010 10:13

There's Logan as well, so Ocean won't be the odd one out.

But I do agree that Autumn and Winter are a bit 'themed'. You did discount Summer for a girl a few months ago for this reason.

SnailWhaleTail · 03/10/2010 10:07

Ooooo, I like the idea of introducing Ocean, Autumn and Storm (or maybe Rowen).

DanceInTheDark · 03/10/2010 09:57

You absolutely cannot call this child Winter if you already have an Autumn. Apart from anything else, if you have another child you have to call it Summer or Spring because it will forever wonder why it doesn't have the same kind of name as its siblings!

I like Beau Alexander though.

SOrry to say that i absolutely HATE your girls name too. (really sorry)

Melody is nice but not sonnet please!

Melody Fleur is nice.

Clary · 03/10/2010 09:44

Yes wot Seeker said.

"What are your children called?" Oh, they are Ocean, Autumn and Storm."

Suounds a lot better than "Oh, they are Ocean, Autumn and Winter."
Doesn't it?
