Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Snowden is awful. It's also a type of potato which is used to make crisps. Very common in Canada apparently.

And it doesn't go with Logan and Ocean, too many 'oh' sounds, and Autum will be wondering why she didn't get an 'oh' name.

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 13:15

Snowden sounds too much Iike Logan.

LetThereBeRock · 03/10/2010 13:14

We're onto Snowden now.

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 13:13

Winter is definitely a girly name and wrong for an autumn born boy with a sibling called Autumn.

Rowan, Alder, Ash (although Asher is better) are trees
which work as names.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 13:13

And for what it's worth when I first came on this thread I thought the Beauden in the title was an ironic MN joke. Good call to ditch it - really.

What about something fantastically romantic and OTT for a boy like Willoughby or Valentine?

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 13:10

I agree with the poster who said people will drop the T on Sonnet. Try out the name in the worst local accent you can muster, because unless you are Samantha Cameron that is how it will inevitably get pronounced. If it sounds cack, bin it.

You can't mangle Sorrel with any glottal stops.Wink

arizonagirl · 03/10/2010 13:10

Hey, hold on.... where did flippin' Pippin come in to the equation? Grin.

Pippin used to be a funny rabbit with huge ears and huge teeth and a ridiculous voice that used to appeal to me when I was little.

Don't worry, seeker...Mystery was a joke (although I did think Jimmi Mistri had a cool name last night on strictly come dancing).

But now I want comments on Snowden - good or bad. Really liking it. Surely you lot are going to be able to endure one of the names we come up with. Btw, dh doesn't like Russett - and now that someone has mentioned an association with 'granny smith'.....

So... Logan, Autumn, Ocean and......Snowden.

Refocus girls.

Seriously?Shock Pippin is a marvellous name. An excellent choice. Go with that.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 13:04

Pippin is a rabbit's name surely?

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 13:03

I don't exactly dislike Autumn or Winter but having them together is a REALLLLLYYYY bad idea. Please think again. People really will laugh in your face and whisper 'oh dear, poor kids - bonkers parents' when you introduce them as Autumn and Winter.

Sonnet is okay-ish, but I prefer Sorrel or Linnet.

seeker · 03/10/2010 13:03

This is damage limitation - you did see that she's thinking abotu Mystery, didn't you??????

LetThereBeRock · 03/10/2010 13:02

Though I admit it's an improvement on Winter.

LetThereBeRock · 03/10/2010 13:01

I do like Pip,but Pippin just makes me think of The Lord of The Rings.

LetThereBeRock · 03/10/2010 12:59

Pippin? Seeker, aren't we trying to avoid the poor child being bullied over his name?

jem1980 · 03/10/2010 12:59

Not as good as Russet IMO, but:
Cobalt or
Dusk

seeker · 03/10/2010 12:58

I'm almost scarred to sugges it because you might like it then it'll be all my fault, but....Pippin?

LetThereBeRock · 03/10/2010 12:57

I'm not convinced that Snowden is an improvement on Winter.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 03/10/2010 12:56

You're thinking granny smith Wink. Am sure russet is a Farrow and Ball color...

Aitch · 03/10/2010 12:55

isn't russet an apple?

seeker · 03/10/2010 12:53

Rowan, Autumn and Ocean. Sorted.

You do realize that Russet will be shortened to Russ and everyone will think you've got a child called Russell, don"t you? And I'm guessing that's not the vibe you're looking for.........

arizonagirl · 03/10/2010 12:52

Beau really isn't an option - trust me, with out surname it would be the joke of the village!!! Shame, because Beau is nice.

But do you know what, we are LOVING Snowden.

Come on, try and put me off - think we might have got there. Have to admit, rude or not, you lot have been fantastic. Don't really care for Beauden anymore and you are right - Autumn and Winter would be over the top and not fair.

But Snowden - now, that is a goer? Isn't it?

Logan, Autumn, Ocean and.......Snowden?

Clary · 03/10/2010 12:46

Yes Heath is good?

I know a Heath actually. I also know an Autumn (her sister is not called summer, despite being born in August Grin)

EightiesChick · 03/10/2010 12:44

Since you obviously like Beau, as in the Beauden idea an the current choices, why not have that as first name? Beau Alexander sounds really good. You could put Winter in then as middle name.

Skyrg · 03/10/2010 12:40

I actually quite like Snowden, goes with your others, 'Snow' as a nickname.
Just please not Winter!

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 03/10/2010 12:34

Rowan, Autumn & Ocean works but it's not the same sort of nature name really.

With Autumn, Winter and Ocean your DD is going to feel left out and wonder why she wasn't called Summer.

October would inevitably lead to 'red october' (turd) jokes, I fear.

It's very hard to find a name that works with the sort of nature names you have

Heath?
Dale?
Auster?
Levanter?
