Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Hang on, I've just remembered a whole ace family with bonkers names - I'll find them for you. There might be a crucial bit of inspiration.

activate · 03/10/2010 16:43

You simply cannot have an AUTUMN and a WINTER

that is too cruel!

cloudydays · 03/10/2010 16:41

ooooh! Jupiter, FellatioNelson ! I like it in a "I would never in a million years name my child that but it might suit arizonagirl's child" kind of way.

Or what about Mars? Did anyone see the Spike Lee "Who Do You Think You Are"? It's a family name for him so not completely unheard of. Also the name of a character in "She's Gotta Have It".

I think Logan, Autumn, Ocean and Mars is kind of cool!

DaisyDaresYOU · 03/10/2010 16:13

I have to say out of all your names,Melody is lovely

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 16:02

Storm is quite nice in a bonkers way for a boy - so is Flame. Or Blaze?

BelligerentGhoul · 03/10/2010 15:40

I seriously considered Melody for dd1 but dp told me I was bonkers and with hindsight, I'm glad I didn't go for it. Then again, it is MUCH better than Sonnet, which, quite frankly, I think is ridiculous. Sorry but I do.

I like Beau but Winter is just awful - and didn't you say that you already had an Autumn? That's just plain silly imvho.

To be honest, they all sound a bit like those made-up name combinations which women who write crap romantic novels make up for themselves. You know - Tempest Storme or Mystique Couer and all that nonsense.

What did Adrian Mole call himself - Adrienne Storme or something?

Sorry but I really think you need to rethink these.

Bagpusstree · 03/10/2010 15:38

I love your attitude to the responses on here arizona, and have enjoyed all your threads!

Sorry, but don't like snowden. I just looked up some 'fire' names in keeping with the nature theme;

Elijah
Erasmus
Joash - not sure how to pronounce though!
Ignatius
Flame

Wouldn't go with flame myself but I quite like the others....

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 15:36

I knew two brothers called Sol and Jupiter once. They are cool names.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 15:34

Think elements, natural wonders, weather phenomenons, cliff and mountains, ravines and dykes (ok, not dykes) come on girls, we can do this....

I'm really enjoying this. I secretly love bonkers names - just too sensible to pick them for my own children.

DinahRod · 03/10/2010 15:26

You can't have Autumn Leif surely, even though Leif is cool.

I too like Bodhi, also Asher, Rowen, Hunter, Timber

autodidact · 03/10/2010 15:26

Stromboli is quite fab, somwhow, Madaboutquavers!

How about Harvest? Harvey for short.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 15:22

Autumn ana Winter would be ok if you would change the other two to Spring and Summer.

That would be so maaaaad it would be good.

In my next life I might deliberately have four children and stagger them appropriately across the seasons so I can do just that.Grin

Leif is very nice. (pronounced Lafe I think?)

Rafe is nice too. Though not remotely seasonal I'll grant you.

MadAboutQuavers · 03/10/2010 15:08

What about Leif (leaf)?

Tree?

Rain?

Brook?

Not keen on Snowden at all. It's like calling him Everest or Stromboli

Aitch · 03/10/2010 15:00

you can get on board with snowden? snowdenboarding?

5DollarShake · 03/10/2010 14:39

Even I can get on board with Snowden if it's instead of Winter. Grin

Wouldn't use it myself in a month of Sundays, but it's a vast improvement over Winter-as-a-brother-for-Autumn.

Faaamily · 03/10/2010 14:28

Was Beauden really an option? Pa ha ha ha

Aitch · 03/10/2010 14:26

or Stoner?

expatinscotland · 03/10/2010 14:02

Why not just name is Hash and be done with it?

Aitch · 03/10/2010 13:42

snowden is also hideous... for goodness sakes i feel for this child.

hal is absolutely LUSH imo. logan, autumn, ocean and hal sounds really nice.

arsesandoldlace · 03/10/2010 13:39

I like Snowden MUCH more than Winter. Unusual, cute nn potential and it'll be pronounced the same wherever in the world you live.

cloudydays · 03/10/2010 13:37

arizonagirl, I just love your total lack of defensiveness and sense of humor about all this :) I'd bet you're a fun and easygoing Mom.

I think Snowden is certainly an improvement on Winter (not in general, but in the context of having big sis Autumn). I'd be lying if I said I loved it, but if you give a traditional middle name that might be fair enough.

Someone earlier (sorry I can't remember who) suggested Bodhi - I'm surprised that didn't resonate with you, since it has a nature (and winter) connotation and a very similar sound to Beauden (I think it's pronounced Beau-dee?).

Looking at your kids' names (and trying to remember birth order from previous threads), they seem to be getting progressively wackier! Nature thing aside, both Logan and Autumn are actually very recognizable names in popular usage (maybe more unusual in UK than US - can't remember where you're based). There won't be four others in their classes but they also won't provoke "How unusual!" as a first response. Ocean will always be hearing "how unusual!" but her name is a very familiar word to everyone and nobody's going to ask how to spell it or what it means.

I guess I'm just saying that while you do have a nature theme, the need for complete unusualness seems to be a more recent thing? Your littlest one (Sonnet or Snowden) might end up envious of his/her siblings who have names that are not top 100 but also not unheard of? I can't see Logan or Autumn ever having to start using a middle name in order to be taken seriously as adults.

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 03/10/2010 13:33

Don't like Snowden at all.

Heath would work

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 13:20

Rowan or Rohan is nice. Eden? Bay? (Similar to Beau)

Snowden not keen. Are you stuck on a winter theme by any chance?

grumpypants · 03/10/2010 13:20

Fall? Leaf? Hal (Halloween)? Sonnet is way too much like Snot to allow the child access to other children. Ocean, Autumn, and ? (Like Autumn, would have like Winter if he was a Winter baby). What about the day of the week he is born? I would have easily had a Friday, Tuesday, or Sunday amongst my lot and their unusual names.

LetThereBeRock · 03/10/2010 13:18

Autumn even.
