Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

Cypress looks girly like Winter did though. Cyrus?

mathanxiety · 03/10/2010 18:37

Twill be confused with Cyrus.

cloudydays · 03/10/2010 18:37

Cy is a brilliant nickname!

arizonagirl · 03/10/2010 18:34

Just looked at images of the cypress tree - gorgeous!! Elegant and refined. Do you know what, this just might be the one. And I love the nickname Cy.

So.... how about Logan, Autumn, Ocean and .....Cypress.

Could be good. No idea about middle names mind you. Hey, starting to feel like I know you all Grin

We-lll, i wouldn't go that far but...Grin

I like Melody :)

And I think Logan, Ocean, Autumn & Sonnet kind of 'go'.

Winter is a no-no (mostly because of Autumn, otherwise it would go too), Snowdon i'm really not convinced by. There must be other suitable boys names out there....

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 18:29

Just spotted Heath further down. That's a nice one.

arizonagirl · 03/10/2010 18:19

So you like Sonnet, justkeepswimming???

Just googled Cypress; guys like the name, no bullying. Thanks for the info about the tree. could be a goer.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/10/2010 18:15

Maybe it will be a girl :)

CuppaTeaJanice · 03/10/2010 18:15

A Swamp Cypress is an evergreen tree with a distinctive large conical base to it's trunk, iirc. Not a feeble little pot plant!

arizonagirl · 03/10/2010 18:09

Hi girls. Ah, some sweet comments.

Yes, sadly we met the 50-0 criteria so Winter is gone. And actually, you were right and I was wrong Blush. Think the conversations would be silly. "Hey, Autumn....yes, Winter...". See, I am not ready to be sectioned just yet and can be made to see sense.

Rowan - don't like it. Quite common and reminds me of Rowan Atkinson and the Archbishop of Canterbury(the old guy with a beard for god's sake).

Jupiter - quite like that one but dh doesn't.

Think we have decided that Snowden is nice but perhaps a bit weak and nn Snow or Snowy might sound like a bunny rabbit. Tbh I much prefer Winter. Ho hum.

This afternoon's name is Cypress but got a feeling some of you said it is primarily a girl's name. Need to google it later. Plus, not sure what kind of tree it is (we don't get them in England). If it is a teeny weeny pot plant/pathetic little thing then that is out too.

Good news girls - baby hasn't arrived yet.
So watch this space. Oh, and no, I am not offended at all. Life is far too short and I am enjoying your comments - the one about snowboarding was great Smile

I actually quite like Winter - believe it's a boy's name in the Channel Islands although might be mistaken. Although I do agree it's a bit of a problem with Autumn. It's much better than Snowden, though - I know you're spelling it differently, but Lord Snowdon doesn't quite hit the tone you're after...

JustKeepSwimming · 03/10/2010 18:01

Glad you've gone off Winter :)

If you do go for Snowdon, can you please spell it right?

EndangeredSpecies · 03/10/2010 17:51

Have you got 50 no votes against Winter yet? here's another one... Smile.

Snowden is cute and original.

BonzoDooDah · 03/10/2010 17:39

I think Snowdon is much better than Winter.

Have you thought of Rohan or Rowan (very pagan connotations)

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 17:22

I would too if my parents made me do that for their own ends. Anyway they won't notice he's gone - they've got 12 others.

evenkeel · 03/10/2010 17:21

Fitzroy
Rockall
Cromarty
Utsire (North and South)

and not forgetting....Dogger
Wink

mathanxiety · 03/10/2010 17:19

Fellatio, the one with the hat and the light blue jacket looks as if he's trying to sneak away.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 17:18

Not Nevis. Nevis is a mole. On the face. No.

mathanxiety · 03/10/2010 17:17

Denali has a higher mountain (McKinley) than Snowdonia.

So Denali or McKinley.
Or Nevis?

Fisher
Malin
Bailey
Faeroe
are all stormy...

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 17:13

here

ilovemydogandMrObama · 03/10/2010 17:13

Actually love the name Bodhi. Knew a little girl called Bodhi and it totally suited her. She was rather, um, willowy Grin

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 17:13

Rubbish link. Sorry - I'll try again.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 17:12

Yep found them I bring you the www.tvguide.com/tvshows/9-design/photos/302736/85722 Novogratz family]] from NY. They have made a whole career out of having thousands of children with implausible names and photographing them at their oh-so-funky Greenwich Village home next to crap designer pieces of furniture that they seem to make/sell. The internet is awash with pretentious photos of these children, and their try-too-hard house. Mr and Mrs Novogratz are clearly their own biggest fans. (don't let that put you off OP.Wink)

Anyway - enjoy.

evenkeel · 03/10/2010 17:05

I'm so enjoying this thread.

Apologies, OP, but since someone mentioned Farrow and Ball, I haven't been able to stop myself.....

Clunch?
Gervase?
Babouche?
Lichen?
