Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

hiya, can i just say i love/loved winter and think it would be kind of cool to have an autumn and a winter. they are the best 2 seasons after all! cypress just makes me think of cyprus the place? girls name is great.i think u will ultimately love whatever u go for though. let us know the final name!

arizonagirl · 03/10/2010 21:39

Thanks for making my weekend so much fun Grin. Have loved reading your comments and you have taken me on a long journey:

From Beauden to Soren to Indigo to Winter to Snowden to Cypress....

But I think.....wait for it.....we have got there (thanks to you wonderful people). Unless, of course, you all veto it in abundance. And you are all right - love our new boy's name far more than Beauden, whilst Winter would have been a bad bad move.

So...... Take four......the final name choices are:Grin

Sonnet Melody Rose

Cypress Beau Alexander (nn Cy)OR
Cypress Jem Alexander.

I love your idea of Jem although I have to admit I have never heard of it before. Mentioned Acer to dh and he immediately said it was a computer (news to me).

Can't believe you guys have influenced me so much but I love this choice soooo much more than Beauden. So I owe you.

Is this acceptable with you lot out there or are you still going to send social services over???

Arizona with all these new names, I'm actually beginning to like Beauden... Was that your intention?
Jem is nice (very To Kill A Mockingbird).
I'm fascinated what name this baby ends up with!

Clary · 03/10/2010 21:29

fellatio re yr 4 seasons plan, when I was a child I planned to have triplets and name them Faith, Hope and Charity!

(apols to anyone on MN who has done that! Grin)

Anyway. As you were.

Liking yr attitude tho Arizonagirl!

sunshineleah · 03/10/2010 21:11

Acer is a laptop!!

I LOVE Logan :) And I think Jem would go really well with your other chn's names.

Also liking Cypruss. Cy is an awesome nn!

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 20:33

Acer works.

SoupDragon · 03/10/2010 20:33

Dale makes me think of Dale Winton.

Bagpusstree · 03/10/2010 20:20

Ooh I like Jem.

Logan, Autumn, Ocean and Jem..... Lovely!

I CANNOT wait to find out what this baby turns out to be called Grin

janoschi Arizona hasn't taken offence, so I'm not sure you need to on her behalf, she has posted on here for opinions, which is what she's getting. I think most people have been quite helpful actually, and not just flamed her.

Anyway, can't you tell? We all love her!

Lonnie · 03/10/2010 20:13

I think your name choices are fantastic and baeautiful

BonzoDooDah · 03/10/2010 20:13

Love Cypress and Cy

And have to agree with some of the others on here - arizona you are so mellow in your responses where many, many others would have stropped off ... and you asked for opinions and actually listened and took note. Is this a MN first. You sounds like a super mum.

Girlsworld · 03/10/2010 19:48

OOOH I LOVE Acer for a boy! Also loving Dale, makes me think of blowsy, windswept landscapes, out there in the wind and the rain and the... stoppit. Running away with myself again Smile

Have now read thread and realised you have already thought of Aspen but don't like the nn of Ass, understandably. But Ace is pretty cool.

BelligerentGhoul · 03/10/2010 19:44

How about Jem? Different spelling to the 'nature word' I know but it sounds nice!

Or Dale? I quite like this because it reminds me of the dwarves in LOTR.

Dylan?

Laurence (crowned with laurel) is a fabbo name too. DD1 would have been Laurence, had she been ds.

I WISH I could convince you to like Rowan though - it's a great name.

FellatioNelson · 03/10/2010 19:39

Janoschi - do you know what? I wholeheartedly agree with you. Every name was new once and at least they are not over-used a dull dull dull. I've had someone with a Jodie turn their nose up at my son's name and accuse me of making it up to be different! Jodie is about 40 years old and my son's name is a few hundred! Just because they'd never heard it doesn't make it made up!

Having said that, some made up names are really beyond the pale, let's be honest.Shock

(mostly the ones on Jerry Springer.)

I really like Cypress, Heath, Sage, and Aspen.

skippingturtle · 03/10/2010 19:36

Ooh, I'm liking Meadow and Acer. Not for my own child, obviously, but I think we're all agreed that the benchmark of bonkers-dom is considerably higher when applied to the progeny of the wonderful arizonagirl. Grin

Nickname Ace, now that's ace. Wink

Janoschi · 03/10/2010 19:27

I think Arizonagirl should call her kid whatever she likes, to be honest. I like to hear people who refuse to go down the boring old Elizabeth, Rosie, Daniel route. There seems to be a lot of hostility here for originality. You guys are presumably smug because you have a few centuries of approval behind your chosen names, but every name starts somewhere. What's wrong with striking off onto a different path? You go girl.

autodidact · 03/10/2010 19:22

How about Moss? Or Sage?

Or a lovely bird? Eagle? Finch? Robin? Lark?

domesticsluttery · 03/10/2010 18:56

If you like a winter and nature theme then how about Celyn? It is Welsh for Holly (but a masculine word and therefore a boys' name)

Girlsworld · 03/10/2010 18:54

And how about Aspen for a boy? (it's a tree, I believe)

Girlsworld · 03/10/2010 18:52

How about Meadow? I know it's not classic but I think it lurrrvely Smile

earlyriser · 03/10/2010 18:47

arizonagirl Just wanted to say how fab i think you are (not for your bonkers names) but how you have taken everything on the chin and kept your sense of humour in the face of some virtual raised eyebrows.

Stroppers take note-this is how is should be done!

TabithaTwitchet · 03/10/2010 18:46

This thread has been making me Grin.

Glad Winter has gone, NOT good with Autumn.

Plus did you say you were due in October? Surely that is in Autumn, not Winter, so his name wouldn't even reflect the correct season. I don't think Snowdon goes for an October baby either, you should go for an Autumnal name.

How about:
Maple
Acer
Russett
Tupelo
Persimmon

yama · 03/10/2010 18:41

I did not know that.

mathanxiety · 03/10/2010 18:40

I had the same thought, but a nevis is a facial mole, sadly.

yama · 03/10/2010 18:39

Snowden made me think 'Mountain' so what about Nevis nn Nev?

mathanxiety · 03/10/2010 18:39

Linden (Lyndon?) is another nice tree.
