Found 'the one' - and it's not Beauden [grin]

Hi everyone,

Well, after a few days of constant name games, me and dh are sorted. Thanks to everyone's help we have decided not to go with Beauden after the BAD reaction on here. Or Indigo or Lyric or Soren. Lots of you still will hate our choices but I think you know when you have decided because you don't care less anymore what others think (in a nice way).

Soooo. our final choices are:

Girl: Sonnet Melody
Boy: Winter Beau Alexander.

See, I still have my Beau in there Grin.

I think these fit in really well with our other dc. The only big problem is that we have an Autumn so it may well sound contrived. But they aren't going to be joined at the hip and will have their own identities.

One last favour!!!

Can anyone suggest a nice third name to go with Sonnet Melody? (Our other three have all got two middle names so I want to do the same).

Was thinking perhaps:

Sonnet Melody Grace
Sonnet Melody Eve
Sonnet Melody Erin

Want a classic name she can fall back on if she hates her other two names.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. I think I can almost leave these boards in peace now Grin

AM :) that so many of you like my suggestion of Zephyr and :( that Arizona doesn't - I too thought a nn of Zeff would be pretty cool (didn't even cross my mind that it was anything like Zebedee because it, um, isn't. Grin)

Can't think of any more suitable names, although I do like Blaise/Blaize/Blaze. Not keen on Breeze (and would also think "girl", nn Bree)

What about Alder?

Hi Jenski, yes, love the name Indigo but all these flippin' mumsnetters put me off. Is your Indigo a boy or girl?

Ok, ok Skyrg - I take your point. Slightly changed my mind after your comment - any others out there with an opinion? Think you are right though Skyrg.

Lola0109 - ah, sweet. Invites? Am I invited? Hey, Leyland is a cool name.

I am going to have to print this damn thread out and stick it in dc's keepsake box Grin

lola0109 · 06/10/2010 22:56

I just googled Arizona Trees (should really be doing these bloody invites) and there was a leyland cypress tree and a royal empress

Any good?

Skyrg · 06/10/2010 22:56

Please don't call a boy Sonnet! Really!
I see it as a really feminine name.

Have you considered:
Sonny (on its own)
Blake
Blaine
Chase
Brock
Drake
Jace
Sora

Sorry to keep suggesting things, I expect you've considered them all... I just don't want you to call a boy Sonnet!

Jenski · 06/10/2010 22:55

Were you thinking of Indigo before then?

I have an Indigo.

Never come across any others...

arizonagirl · 06/10/2010 22:52

Hey, no slating girls - life just gets better.

Skyrg - yes, we did notice the smurf link but quite liked it (would make a great pet nickname).

Lola0109 - you have got me wondering now. We see it as a really feminine name but I don't know if that is just because we have always associated Sonnet with a girl. Food for thought. We were saying earlier we hope it is a girl simply because we love the name and will never get the chance to use it (definitely no fifth!).

FellatioNelson - yes, I know that is the correct spelling but he would have a nightmare having to spell it out all the time. Surely? And everyone would call him Shoeler? Don't you think?

Still - some positive feedback. Just need to decide on Sonnet or Skyler (hey, F.Nelson - you just had me typing Schuyler - you've got in my mind now).

OP posts:
FellatioNelson · 06/10/2010 22:45

I know a man called Schuyler (note: spelt the proper way Grin) and he is absolutely not downmarket - quite the opposite. I agree though - it's all in the spelling.

lola0109 · 06/10/2010 22:44

I love Sonnet, I think you could have it for a boy and Sonny for nn is fab IMO! I think its the Melody Rose that makes it feminine. I think it's a gorgeous name for either sex.

I had a thought today when making up some halloween invites, what if he/she is a few days late? You could have a halloween inspired name for that eventuality?

Your dad likes Ryan? A work colleagues son is called Rayan? I quite like it.

Skyrg · 06/10/2010 22:43

Hang on.. didn't your surname begin with F?
Sonnet Melody Rose F
Smurf! Grin

FellatioNelson · 06/10/2010 22:43

PMSL at Bonzo's Zephyr paddy. Grin Quite right though - I thought if we all agreed on something, you HAD to have it.

Blaise is great, but as it's you arizona I would recommend spelling it Blaze. It's just madder.

arizonagirl · 06/10/2010 22:18

Oh blow, serves me right for not reading through. Correct 'of' to 'off' and CheerfulYank - I was referring to the name Aspen. Doh!

OP posts:
arizonagirl · 06/10/2010 22:17

mathianxiety - now you're talking. Love those names and we considered both. Thought Breeze had too much potential for teasing! and we got put of Blaise because it means 'to stutter and stammer'. Probably not important mind, better than Cypress with the funeral connotations.

Oh no, will be thinking about Blaise now.

CheerfulYank, we considered too (not sure what page that was on). Again though, the ass at the beginning put us off. But I do agree that they are more connected with nature.

I don't know...I come up with something more bog standard like Skyler and you all moan at me for being too mainstream Shock. There's no pleasing everyone.

BonzoDooDah - a little girl would definitely be Sonnet Melody Rose. And don't ya go doing yer best to put me off. Someone suggested you could use Sonnet for a boy but it seems a bit girly. Nn Sonny nice though. Thoughts.

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 06/10/2010 21:47

Breeze?
Blaise?

BonzoDooDah · 06/10/2010 21:18

Not keen on Zephyr?? But that's the one we've all chosen!!! [stamps]

I don't think Skylar is as "natural world" as some of your other children's names but the nn sky definately is.

Ahhhh Have a girl woncha! (What's the latest for her name?)

Glad your appointment went well.

CheerfulYank · 06/10/2010 21:02

I like Skyler. I knew a boy named Aspen once, that's nature-y. :)

arizonagirl · 06/10/2010 20:24

Fimbo - no, I'm still here - just had a crazy day up and down the hospital (complicated case but all good news).

Flippin' typical that all my names get slated and then someone comes along and suggests something completely different and everybody falls off their chair in wonder WinkWink

Not keen on Zephyr - reminds me of Zebedee in the magic roundabout and hard to pronounce. Skyler is still the order of the day - I do agree that it rather boring over in the States but in the UK it is very unusual - that is the only reason I would consider it. Love Sonnet but can't see it on a boy - does everyone agree? Although nn Sonny is nice.

Hey frazzle - take it you don't really care for my names - actually, Frazzle.... hmmm. See potential here. Fraz would be a great nickname.

DanceInTheDark - you made me laugh out loud. How sweet that you dreamt about me - actually not a bad name choice. My mother rang me to tell me she dreamt I had a girl and called her Lotus Blossom. So I take it they are expecting something unusual although my dad is trying to convince me that Ryan is a great name.

Still loving Jem but not for a first name.

Will keep you all updated folks. Any more revelatory dreams - let me know Wink.

mathanxiety · 06/10/2010 20:06

Skyler is very downmarket, goes in the same category as Tyler, Taylor imo.

I like Zephyr a lot too. And Bryce. It's close enough to Arizona.

frazzle26 · 06/10/2010 19:49

Your poor children. If I was the registrar I would refuse to register such ridiculous names.

Fimbo · 06/10/2010 17:09

Is Arizona off having the baby do you think? Grin
