Lyric or Soren

Ok, here goes again. Beauden and Arizona have gone down badly. Indigo not great either.

So how about Lyric or Soren for a boy? As you can tell, I am not going to suggest James or Thomas just yet.

Thoughts appreciated as you are all helping me rule out names and others in.

Don't mind the criticism (or the more positive posts). All part of the process.

pascal? joquin? Talius? Platius? mirron? Casper, palmer???

arizonagirl · 02/10/2010 23:03

Thanks everyone for all your thoughts. Dh vetoed Soren - shame in a way as I like it. Although I read a forum of guys named Soren who were fed up with no-one knowing how to spell it and pronounce it. I think thanks to all you wonderful people we are done. Have posted a separate thread to thank everyone.

I like the word Lyric, but not as a name.

Soren is good.

DaisyDaresYOU · 02/10/2010 21:47

I aint gunna argue. It just does not sound like a name, sounds silly.

thisisyesterday · 02/10/2010 21:40

i didn't say your name was Daisy.
just pointing out that names have lots of different origins! so, your argument that it isn't a name it's the words of a song is kind of stupid

that isn't to say i particularly like Lyric as a name... but you can't say it isn't one!

Aitch · 02/10/2010 21:39

or a twat. Grin

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 02/10/2010 21:37

Soren is nice enough. Lyric I would definitely assume was a girl.

SerialMom · 02/10/2010 21:34

I love Soren - definitely your best name yet :)

Aitch · 02/10/2010 21:34

lyric is ridiculous, soreen is a malt loaf. soren lovely if you are scandi.

icapturethecastle · 02/10/2010 21:33

Def Soren- but that is because I love Soren Lorenson (if it is possilbe to love an fictional imaginary boy)

DaisyDaresYOU · 02/10/2010 21:31

Daisy is not my name though.Im giving an opinion as is everyone else

thisisyesterday · 02/10/2010 21:28

and Daisy is a flower.

so what?

DaisyDaresYOU · 02/10/2010 21:17

Lyric is not a name. Its the words of a song Hmm

MamaLazarou · 02/10/2010 13:58

Soren is very nice. Your best suggestion so far!

thisisyesterday · 02/10/2010 12:38

Soren, definitely. ds3 was nearly Soren

LetThereBeRock · 02/10/2010 12:32

Soren is nice, unusual without being bizarre, but you really can't call a boy Lyric. You seem set on the idea of getting the poor child teased horrendously about his name.

mayanna123 · 02/10/2010 11:35

"You are nuts. What's wrong with Daniel? Imagine a middle-aged man with these names you are suggesting."

Why would she be nuts for preferring Soren over Daniel? I personally love Soren and know a lovely 39 year old Soren. I find Soren much nicer and more interesting than Daniel (which I find very dull indeed).

And wouldn't life be dull if all men were all called Daniel, Jack or Tom?

TaurielTest · 02/10/2010 11:17

Just re-read and seen that arizonagirl is the OP and already mentioned pronunciation... I blame the newborn (and rather conventionally named) currently BFing while I browse.
I suppose you could pronounce it however you like, but I'd expect a fair proportion of people to assume you'd use the Danish/Swedish pronunciation or something like it - first syllable rhyming with "sir", as a slight anglicisation maybe.

TaurielTest · 02/10/2010 11:13

I like Søren/Sören/Soeren, but since arizonagirl mentioned reviews disliking he sound of it, just in case - you do know that the authentic pronunciation of the first syllable isn't "sore", right? It rhymes with French "coeur", rather than English "core"...

I'm liking Inigo too.

crikeybadger · 02/10/2010 11:12

I love Soren and it was on my list last time, but I was overruled! DH thought it sounded too much like a soya margarine Hmm.

Don't care what any one else says- it's nice to be different. Smile

takingchances · 02/10/2010 11:03

Not loving either Lyric or Soren but when you mention Indigo... I had a friend called Inigo (no d) which I always thought was a great name

Rockbird · 02/10/2010 11:00

That isn't a baby name book you're browsing, it's a dictionary.

Nothing more to add to that, sums up what I feel beautifully.

skippingturtle · 02/10/2010 10:56

I rather like Soren. When I glanced at flightattendant's suggestion of Sennen I thought she was suggesting Semen...

duncandisorderly · 02/10/2010 10:07

You are nuts. What's wrong with Daniel? Imagine a middle-aged man with these names you are suggesting.

AbiAbi · 02/10/2010 09:54

Definitely prefer Soren.

I have to say I admire your tenacity and perservence AND the fact that you haven't got all huffy. Good luck Smile
