My short list is now shorter, which one do you think?

Dulcie Amelia
Scarlett Cleo
Maya Lily

Which one to choose though?

Not at all! Of your original I think they definitely roll off the tongue as the best combo (not that after the first few weeks people will ever really say both names together IYSWIM!).

I wouldn't worry about the 'trying too hard' thing, yes, both Cleo and Dulcie are a little less used (as opposed to Scarlett, Lily and Amelia!), but they're not pretentious or weird!

kizzibear · 02/10/2010 15:50

Dulcie cleo is my favourite, but I was worried it might be too try hard, or too 'abstract'????

Maya Lily

How about Dulcie Cleo?

mathanxiety · 02/10/2010 03:58

Cleo by far the nicest imo too.

Cleo Delphine
Cleo Miranda
Cleo Anastasia
Cleo Savannah

Scarlett Cleo is gorgeous, as is Cleo Scarlett.

ohfuschia · 02/10/2010 00:31

Dulcie is lovely - I see a lot of names in my job but when a teenage girl called Dulcie came in a few weeks ago it made me stop and think 'now that is a pretty name I haven't seen for a long time'.

plonker · 01/10/2010 23:55

Maya Lily

JaynieB · 01/10/2010 23:52

Dulcie is sweet - like it
Cleo - same name as my dog, so it's hard to get excited about it!
Scarlett is great but a bit faddy. I think it might date.
I'd wait and see what suits. We ended up changing our minds from our short list to something else entirely, once DD actually arrived.

kizzibear · 01/10/2010 23:48

Actually make that maya scarlett???

scarlett cleo makes me think of a red car!

kizzibear · 01/10/2010 22:02

He came up with some horrible middle names. I think meredith is really lovely though, and a name I hadnt really thought about.

Typical man, shoot everything down but comes up with nothing himself!!

kizzibear · 01/10/2010 21:58

My partner really wants her to have a middle name. From your list I like most of the names, but OH turned up his nose! But any more suggestions are welcome of course, as we still have time to change!

kizzibear · 01/10/2010 21:56

Thanks for comments so far! I really cant choose, might see what she lloks like, and what suits her best.

Are any likely to date, or cause eyebrows to rise? I dont think they are, but could juts have a pregnancy brain!

morgan55 · 01/10/2010 21:55

ooohhh, cleo meredith is lovely!

morgan55 · 01/10/2010 21:54

i love cleo, i'll have a think about middle names that go with cleo. do you need to have a middle name?

ValiumSingleton · 01/10/2010 21:53

Cleo Margaret (maybe a family connection?!

I think it needs something with three syllables which neither begins NOR ends in a vowel, and something not too razmatazz, because another oo la la name with cleo would be too much. I love cleo but I think it needs something understated next to it.

Cleo Marianne popped in to my head and I do love that.

Cleo Meredith
Cleo Vivien
cleo Juliet
Cleo Penelope
Cleo Violet

It's hard alright!

DuelingFanjo · 01/10/2010 21:51

I lOVE Dulcie.

onimolap · 01/10/2010 21:50

I think Scarlett works best if your colouring means you're likely to produce a girl with auburn I'd blonde hair.

Scarlett or Dulcie are the ones I'd go for.
