I will be using it anyway, just trying to gauge opinion, as many mums now, or women younger than me pull their faces as if it were the most horrific name on earth.

Yet all the older people I tell seem to love it, am I giving her a name which will result in funny faces from her peers?

It depends whether or not she is frumpy and dumpy

Love it: at least one in each generation of both sides of my family, all shortened in different ways. Fab, versatile name.

Elizabeth is a beautiful name, a true classic. So, so many excellent nn possibilities too.

classic. lovely name. however you might want to decide how to handle the inevitable abbreviations. I'm one - (did I say it was a classic and lovely name? Wink) and I announced aged about 13 what shorted version I wanted. which was great for me. and mum didn;t mind either...but...if there are any you don;t like you might do well to get in there first.

Lovely! I wanted to call DD2 Elizabeth but DH didn't share my enthusiasm Sad

Elizabeth is a classic name with lots of nickname potential. It is a 'safe' choice imo.

Currently, 'cute' names seem more fashionable for girls e.g. Tilly, Lilly, Daisy, Maisy, Ellie etc. That is why some may find Elizabeth slightly old fashioned.

I'll admit bias but I like it, and potential shortenings.

Fantastic name, and that of my future imaginary daughter Grin

It is a fabulous name, I couldn't use it due to Aunt and Cousin (of DC) of same/similar name.

TheFallenMadonna · 30/09/2010 21:44

Love it.
