Middle name for Autumn baby born in her waters?

monkeymiss · 30/09/2010 16:11

I like to choose names for a reason as well as liking them of course!

DD2 is 9 days old and I'm still thinking about a middle name (just one). DD2's first name is a family name, and I was thinking about a seasonal name as a middle name. 'Autumn' came to me yesterday, and I'm pleased to see from the internet that it is actually used as a girl's name (never come across in RL!). But DH is unconvinced. Need further inspiration as my brain isn't very good at this sort of thing! I can't think past Blackberry and Conker...

Another idea was to have something water-related, as DD2 was born in her sac.

Any ideas much appreciated!

Lovely names - congrats!

And how amazing that your baby was born in her waters! As others have said - supposed to be good luck, and I also heard that babies that are born in their waters will always be safe in water.

How about a body of water eg Constance?

Or if you really want to go for it, Aphrodite was born from the waves.

Marina?

Flossiebelle · 12/10/2010 22:34

Lovely middle name Smile

monkeymiss · 12/10/2010 22:02

Just to say that we have gone with Autumn. To my surprise DH felt more sure about Autumn as a middle name than he did about her first name.

Thanks to everyone for the wonderful suggestions which have helped make the decision.

Why not Aqua? is water obviously but slightly off the wall and original but quite 'quirky' and cool Grin

monkeymiss · 02/10/2010 21:15

on rereading i think i sound ungrateful for those suggestions i've dismissed.

just a thought dump

sorry Blush

wow more posts!

nixies are those sort of creatures that lure men in to drown apparently, so i'm not so keen

dh would never allow ariel on grounds of washing powder!

pearl - i like :)

talise is native american indian origin so a no for me

zarya is slavic apparently so fits with my ethnicity, but not sure on it

miriam no for me as biblical

emilie autumn gothic musician - not sure i should worry about this. she might not be around in 10 years anyway. arguably a plus as the name (presumably her stage name) is quite now

marnie - not really for me

of course will post what we choose!

Marnie? Apparently related to marine's, water etc.

Also, my DD is so named (that should sway you!)Grin and she was (coincidently) born in water.

Being born in the cowl is supposed to be very lucky, especially in south east England I think.

ravenAK · 01/10/2010 22:01

Beware Emilia Autumn, there's a well known gothic musician called Emilie Autumn

www.emilieautumn.com/.

Lots of other lovely suggestions though, congratulations! Smile

SE13Mummy · 01/10/2010 21:56

A rather tenuous water connection perhaps but how about Miriam? She was the elder sister of Moses who placed him in the basket amongst the reeds...?

ivykaty44 · 01/10/2010 21:46

Talise - means lovely water - well I guess it was lovely water with your daughter born inside Smile

Or Zarya water priestess and protector of warriors

SE13Mummy · 01/10/2010 21:41

How about Pearl? A friend's waterbirth DD has Pearl as a middle name in reference to the water.

AbFabT · 01/10/2010 18:02

Congratulations! Born in her waters is awesome. I can't beat MentalFloss's brilliant contribution, but just wanted to add Ariel for your water connexion, as in, The Little Mermaid. (Though I suppose being a washing powder also gives it a water vibe! :))

Nixie was on my list for our baby due any day, MentalFloss, but DH said no. I love it though!

monkeymiss, please let us know what you've chosen!

PollyTechnique · 30/09/2010 22:59

I was thinking of Amber when I read your op.

Emilia Amber... sounds lovely, I think.

Congratulations, btw!

monkeymiss · 30/09/2010 22:40

Wow what a response! :) Thank you all. Amber and Sapphire are the ones that jump out at me, though Amber is less obviously autumnal. I do think Naida is lovely, but I don't think it goes with her first name which is Emilia.

Emilia Autumn
Emilia Amber
Emilia Sapphire
Emilia Naida

Didn't know about Peter Phillips' wife. From what I read, Autumn is quite a popular girls name in the US. I guess as their usual vocabulary word is 'fall' that plays a part.

Medi is lovely but I don't have any Welsh connection!!

BuntyPenfold - I know what you mean, but I don't think I'd let that put me off, it's only part of their life and they don't have to share the details behind the name!

I also like Ianthe, which does also have a family connection, but have been put off by wikipedia as one of the legendary Greek Ianthe's basically married a transsexual! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ianthe

Felicity means lucky.

domesticsluttery · 30/09/2010 18:49

Medi is Welsh for September, and would have been my September born DS' name if he had been a DD

FranSanDisco · 30/09/2010 18:46

Yes Peter Phillip's wife is an american lady called Autumn.

OnlyWantsOne · 30/09/2010 18:45

McCArthy

southeastastra · 30/09/2010 18:44

ellen after that woman who sailed around the world (sorry can't think of her other name!)

yellowflowers · 30/09/2010 18:42

Autumn is a lovely name. Didn't Peter Phillips (princess Ann's son) just marry someone called Autumn?

Lonnie · 30/09/2010 18:41

Ocean
Ocianna
but I would go with Autumn I love that name

Flighttattendant · 30/09/2010 18:37

Belgo - Esther Williams was a very famous and glamourous film star in the 1940s or 50s who always did beautiful swimming scenes Smile

FerminaUrbinoDaza · 30/09/2010 16:31

What a lovely idea, congratulations on the birth of DD2!

Nadia is great. what's her first name?

Ineedsomesleep · 30/09/2010 16:27

How about

Acquanetta - water
Brenna - little drop of water
or my favourite
Naida - water nymph

Congratulations on your DD. My DD was born in her waters too Smile
