unusual baby girls names
unusual meaning outside the top 50 preferrably out of top 100 either now or in the past eg not rachel or rebecca ,sara
unusual but not weird eg not mehitabel, jezebel
can't use naomi hannah jemima tabitha lydia or bethany as already used by close family members

Tamar. I love this name.

mrsgordonfreeman · 27/09/2010 17:06

Judith is a deuterocanonical name so I suppose it depends on your definition of biblical...

My dd is also Judith, I chose it for the same reasons as you, Sarahtigh!

I also like Dinah but my cat got there first. From experience, a Dinah spends a lot of time correcting people who think it's spelt "diner".

dexifehatz · 27/09/2010 17:02

How about Jerusha? I have a friend called Jeszemma which sounds kinda biblical.

musicmadness · 27/09/2010 16:00

Lilith
Leah
Miriam
Julia

yes agree with DH if deliberately choosing biblical names best not to go for the baddies ie jezebel and salome,
someone mentioned priscilla and aquila but aquila is male( acts 18 v2), my DD is Judith which is biblical but not common but not so unusual that she will spend her life spelling it out slowly on the phone etc

a can only think of a few not mentioned so far

Eunice, the early form of sarah which is sarai damaris bernice orpah

Martha's great, but surely in the top 50 by now? It's v popular I think these days.

Ishouldhavechosenagoldfish · 27/09/2010 10:35

There was a couple called Prisca and Aquilla - not sure which was which, but Aquilla is nice?
