Alexandra is the least wishy washy girls name I know too.

But I'm biased as it's my name. Alex is a bad ass name for an older girl too :)

So Smilingserenely have you got a short list yet?!?! Some stonking names here, wish I could go back and do it all again (though I do love DD's names, both have come out of these lists Smile).

C4ro · 27/09/2010 11:44

My daughter is Kate Augusta. I am liking this thread!

Also considered Hannah and would have liked Georgina/ Alexandra (but that is my sister and SIL so couldn't have them).

Takver · 27/09/2010 11:40

Harriet (though lots of people on another thread hate it, I love it)
Hester

Agree Kate is a very strong name [forceful, takes-no-shit Kate emoticon]

Elizabeth - esp shortened to Liz or Eliza
Josephine

Matilda is a milly/molly/mandy name imo.

What about Meredith?

anonymousbird · 27/09/2010 11:30

Isabella ruled Europe. That might be a bit frilly, so Isabel?

Kate I like very much. Don't mess with Kate!

Ruth
Beth

Claudia
Clara
Krista/Christa
Kirsten
Kristen
Tasmin

Any of Rebecca/Victoria/Nicola are good strong names, but unfortunately they are always shortened to their terrible nn versions.

Samantha. But will be shortened to the (less offensive) Sam.

Although we call our Catherine, Kitty, I always think that Kate sound very strong very unlike Katie.

Ellen is also quite strong IMO.
