I think harriet is the best one, I think it sounds like a girly economist who uses mumsnet ... :D

Crazycatlady · 27/09/2010 20:39

All lovely names. I'm biased on two of them as my DD is Beatrice Clementine.

Thoughts on the others:

hannah - all the hannah's I've known have been really nice
harriet - hattie is a sweet nn, full version is forthright and strong, perhaps slightly harsh
zara - can't help thinking of the clothes shop, don't dislike though
alexandra - elegant and strong, I know lots of lovely but very naughty ones of all ages
sophie - pretty, girly, slightly prissy
megan - Welsh
madeleine - gorgeous, am considering for DC2 if a girl
matilda - quite 'of the moment' a few years ago in certain circles
jessica - dull but pretty

minipie · 27/09/2010 20:27

hannah - religious
harriet - quite posh, horsey, hard sound
zara - royal and very horsey
clementine - cutesy, also a fruit
beatrice - really like
alexandra - really like
sophie - spoiled (just my personal experience of sophies!)
megan - LOVE this name. Slightly hippyish
madeleine - love this name, very elegant
matilda - Roald Dahl. bit hard sounding.
jessica - bit frilly. Jess is nice though.

BelligerentGhoul · 27/09/2010 20:25

Love Harriet and Beatrice. Hate Clementine and Zara.

belgo · 27/09/2010 20:22

They are all either ordinary or trendy.

mathanxiety · 27/09/2010 20:19

hannah -- really glad I didn't call DD1 Hannah. It seems quite dated.
harriet -- prim, twee
zara -- lovely, stylish
clementine -- lovely, stylish; reminds me of church bells ringing for some reason
beatrice -- lovely, classic
alexandra -- lovely, classic, formal
sophie -- nice, prefer Sophia or Sofia though
megan -- dislike this name, sounds dumpy, don't like the EGG sound in the middle
madeleine -- lovely, sounds like the essence of France to me
matilda -- lovely, classic Germanic; love Tilda as nn
jessica -- frou-frou, Barbie-type name, 1970s, a bit downmarket?

DuelingFanjo · 27/09/2010 10:04
