Yay! So glad I'm not the only one who likes Marnie. Is def going on my list.

rachxx · 26/09/2010 21:21

Carmel on its own then? Or just ditch Carmel. Which middle names actually go with Carmel? And again Im not familiar with the weird vampire stuff.

DirtyMartini · 26/09/2010 21:18

And Carmilla is a classic vampire name, isn't it? "Carmilla" by Sheridan LeFanu? Bit too close to Carmella perhaps, unless you are a Goth and want to give your dd a name with vamp cred.

DirtyMartini · 26/09/2010 21:16

Marnie is the heroine of a Hitchcock film of the same name. She is glam (Tippi Hedren) but messed up with some sort of complex around sex IIRC.

rachxx · 26/09/2010 21:13

OH thinks marnie sounds like Barnie :( lol.

Have not watched The soprano's so wouldnt know.

dizietsma · 26/09/2010 21:07

Carmella is the wife of Tony Soprano in the TV show The Soprano's and not a very nice person. I couldn't call my DD Carmella for that reason!

PaulineCampbellJones · 26/09/2010 21:06

Really like Carmel. It was on my list for DD.

rachxx · 26/09/2010 21:01

Im now thinkng

Scarlett Sienna
Dulcie Lola
Carmella Marnie

Ohhh I dont know...none of them really flow

maybe Ill just call her Jane...

Although, just to be awkward, I think I like Carmella best!

pressyourthumbs · 26/09/2010 20:50

Dulcie is nice, if you both like it, why not? I have only come across it once. Marnie is nice too- very unusual. I know a teenage Marlene who gets called Marnie sometimes as a nn.

Panzee · 26/09/2010 20:33

I quite like Cara, that's similar without being the nun from Neighbours. Wink

rachxx · 26/09/2010 20:33

Most say Dull-see but some say Dowl-see

rachxx · 26/09/2010 20:32

Marnie. I like!!!! Thats going on the new list. Im probably being silly and will look back in a years time and think O.M.G

OP posts:
sarahscot · 26/09/2010 20:12

How do you pronounce Dulcie?

I heard Marnie the other day and loved it. It's hard to know if it's me that loves it or if it's the hormones, IYSWIM.

Scarabeetle · 26/09/2010 19:54

Juliette?

rachxx · 26/09/2010 19:53

Not for you then SixtyFootDoll

I keep returning to Dulcie. Its the only name we have both liked...but it doesnt get very good reactions.

I was bullied by a girl called Carmela

zenon · 26/09/2010 19:45

Xanthe = Zan-thee. When you say it out loud it has a beautiful sound. The meaning in Greek is fair/blond hair.

Antonia is another lovely name.Smile

Good Luck!

rubbersoul · 26/09/2010 19:44

Isabella and Ava are beautiful- they are popular for a reason! Esme is lovely as well, really pretty and not too popular (by me anyway!)

rachxx · 26/09/2010 19:37

I do lke Ava- But I know about 10...dont really want to pinch friends/families daughters names. As for camille, I strangely dont like this even though like Carmen and Carmel!! Think it reminds me of camilla too much!

OP posts:
Scarabeetle · 26/09/2010 19:31

Ava - beautiful name. What about Ava Camille?

rachxx · 26/09/2010 19:26

Yes Thats what Im trying Zenon! I like the way Xanthe is spelt, and Clemency, but nt keen on leonora!

Oh and with Xanthe, what is pronounciation, as have heard three ways!!

OP posts:
zenon · 26/09/2010 18:59

Xanthe, Clemency or Leonora are fantastic names. Your DD will likely be the only one in school. Smile Gorgeous, beautiful, old established names yet rarely heard.

Isabella, Sophie,Mia/Eva etc have had their day and are now everywhere. Think outside the box.

sabini · 26/09/2010 18:54

Es-may!
Thought you might have loads of books:)
Name overload,it gets a bit much-makes it harder when there are so many names to choose from, doesnt it? And some are quite frankly very silly!

rachxx · 26/09/2010 18:42

Hehe I have lods of baby name books. And luckily I don't like sophie and Isabella anyway. Did like Mia, But I know a few ffriends have them, (same with lola,Kiera scarlett)

Will suggest Esme to OH. it Es-may or Es-me??
