I am glad you are thinking of Naomi - and so glad that my dd didn't scare you off the name! :)

Sorry for not getting back to you sonner. Internet has been down.

Semms like all those names I like are Marmite names! My Dh has now banned Thea (for much the same reasons alot of you have stated!). I LOVE it though.

He's loving Hope, but only as a middle name. So, Naomi is looking likiest.

Thank you, you have all helped. If there wasn't such a strong dislike from some quarters for Thea, I think I may have fought him over it, but as it is, I'll give in!

Oh no! She's so awful that she's killed the thread.....

BelligerentGhoul · 27/09/2010 21:57

My Naomi is the big one on my profile!

musicmadness · 27/09/2010 21:57

I love Naomi, I don't really like the other 2.

bigstripeytiger · 27/09/2010 21:46

I really like Naomi.

Hope is lovely

I like Naomi

Thea is pretty enough but she will spend her life being asked "whats that short for then?"

SE13Mummy · 26/09/2010 19:58

As a first name I prefer Naomi over Thea. Hope is DD2's middle name for all those religious/virtue reasons that other posters dislike it. I love Hope as a middle name but wouldn't use it as a first name myself Hmm.

Thea is a pretty name but I know a Thea (short for Theadora), a Thea pronounced Tee-uh and a Thea pronounced Tay-uh (a nickname for Althea) so it's not a name I'd choose.

jellybeans · 26/09/2010 11:49

I like them all but prefer Hope out of the 3. Others are nice though.

Loujalou · 26/09/2010 11:40

Thea is the Greek word for Auntie.

ValiumSingleton · 26/09/2010 10:45

Naomi and Thea are both lovely. Not keen on Hope.

splashy · 26/09/2010 00:43

I love Thea, such a beautiful name!

ShoshanaBlue · 26/09/2010 00:37

I like Naomi the best...but also I think that Thea is a lovely name.

deepdarkwood · 25/09/2010 23:22

No, not Thea, very dull, insipid and wet.

Although if you want literary creds, Bunny, Dorothea surely slightly trounces Maggie... Grin

I actually really like Hope too (but mostly in memory of 30somethings Blush)

LaydeeBlahBlah · 25/09/2010 23:13

oh, Thea for definite. My neice is a Thea, not short for either Theadora or Dorothea. I suggested it!, my sister loved it and I still think it is a beautiful name. She is now 19 and I have only ever met one other (who was actually a Theadora).

TooBlessedToBeStressed · 25/09/2010 23:01

definately Naomi

4sophia · 25/09/2010 22:39

Love, love, love Thea! It's a gorgeous name.

BelligerentGhoul · 25/09/2010 22:20

Naomi is much better than the other two! Not fond of Thea.

As a Thea myself I am slightly biased but I love love love it as a name. It is commented on as being a lovely name by nearly everyone I meet for the first time or give my name to over the phone.

I like Naomi and Hope too by the way. And i have a vested interest in warding off the scary increase in popularity of Thea (most people I meet have still never met a Thea but if MN is anything to go to I think it's going to get very popular!) but I'd say that if you go with it you won't regret it!

Bue · 25/09/2010 12:23

I adore Thea. Hoping to maybe have a Thea myself one day but unfortunately DH thinks it's "odd". What does he know...

Would possibly consider Theodora as the birth certificate name as it has a bit more gravitas.

pointydog · 25/09/2010 11:29

Naomi and Hope are both lovely. Preference for Naomi.

Don;t like Thea.

pacinofan · 25/09/2010 11:22

Love Thea, would use Theadora as a full name and shorten to Thea.

Hope lovely as well, both beautiful names.
