So far this is all I have managed to come up with and wondered how the names sounded to you girls?

Any suggestion very welcome!!

We are looking for something pretty, fairly 'solid' and not too common...

Thanks in advance!

I think that Harriet and Rosaline/Rosalyn or Rosalind sound OK (not names I'd choose personally, but perfectly fine) but your spellings are really quite odd. I'm not of the view that spelling names in a different way make them more interesting, I think it just makes life a little bit more difficult for the bearer.

There are a lot of variants on Rose - I quite like Rosanna(h) - I prefer the Roz sound.

Roselyn - is it pronounced just like Rose + Lynne, or is it Roz? 'Rose + Lynne' is very pretty.

Harriet(te) doesn't do it for me, I find it quite plain, but it's a perfectly good name. I don't think the chariot rhyme is anything to worry about, unless I'm missing something about chariots!

Sorry for this...but DH who can ruin a name for anyone says..."Harriet the Chariot" - I always think it's better to know in advance rather than find out in the playground.

Roselyn lovely

Harriet

piscesmoon · 21/09/2010 21:41

Harriet is nice, but not with the added letters.

BelligerentGhoul · 21/09/2010 21:28

I like Harriet. Harriette feels too much - why gild it?

Faaamily · 21/09/2010 21:27

I like Harriet, but not with the 'ette' ending.

I have to behonest, I think Roselyn is one of the least pretty Rose names. I prefer Rosa or Rosanna.

fairyteapot · 21/09/2010 21:26

Flora

I think this is lovely, and not v common. Rose/Rosie quite popular now.

Rockbird · 21/09/2010 21:25

Harriet is lovely (I have one!) but yes please, spell it properly, it ruins a lovely name otherwise :)

Roselyn is very pretty but likely to be mixed up with Rosalind maybe.

Thank you ladies!

Yes I'd love some suggestions.... I'm finding choosing names really difficult!!

Roselyn is a lovely and not very common - although I suppose she'd probably become a Rosie in due course

Harriette is also nice although I'd also spell it just Harriet (otherwise your dd will be forever correcting people)

Do you want more suggestions?

nigglewiggle · 21/09/2010 21:14

I would spell it Harriet and I like it - Hatty for short?

Roselyn is pretty but not too frilly.
