Phoebe, Poppy or Holly?

Opinions gratefully received? only got 2 weeks or so left now! I know people think poppy suits baby more than adult, but surely that will change with the next generation as there are so many of them??

Poppy too trendy? Really?! I have never yet met a RL Poppy. I love it BTW.

galletti · 15/11/2010 10:54

I know I'm being sensitive, but find some of the comments about the name choices a little hurtful, as someone else said, you could just answer the question without the dubious comments.

Yes, my dd does have one of those names, in my area, it is not regarded as common, in fact in 8 years of school, there is not one other child with the name, and I have lost count of the number of times people have told her/us what a lovely name it is. I know its each to their own and all that but I would never make a 'horrid' comment about a name.

Rant over.

NormanNorris · 15/11/2010 10:48

I quite like all three. All equally twee IMO. I would pick Poppy as it's an old fave.

midnightexpress · 15/11/2010 10:42

Love Phoebe, Poppy OK, and also Holly, but everyone will ask her for her whole life if her birthday is on Xmas day.

bogie · 15/11/2010 10:41

We have got a Phoebe Grin she's a little monster angel

flopsy1974 · 15/11/2010 10:40

Phoebe is lovley. Not so keen on the others.

Komondor · 15/11/2010 10:23

Phoebe

diddl · 15/11/2010 10:05

Phoebe-nn Poppy?

Don´t dislike Holly though.

lilly13 · 15/11/2010 08:50

Holly

sunnydelight · 15/11/2010 05:35

Phoebe is the only one I would consider. I do like Holly and know a few adults with the name, but it's too close to all the "cute" names that are so common now (like Poppy!).

HollyBollyBooBoo · 15/11/2010 03:31

Holly...but clearly I am biased (oh and classy aswell!)

smaych · 13/11/2010 22:15

Holly is my sister's name, I've always thought it's lovely :)

The others are good too, though. Poppy is really nice. Some great choices!

smother · 13/11/2010 20:52

Phoebe by a mile. Poppy is too cutesy (even if there will be loads of Poppy adults around in a few years time...).

Linnet · 13/11/2010 20:47

Phoebe

traceface · 13/11/2010 20:33

All nice names, but Phoebe is my favourite (and my dd2's name Grin) It gets lots of positive comments. And little children (her nursery friends) call her Fifi, which I find rather sweet! Only thing is people are often unsure how to spell it, but that doesn't bother me!

NoahAndTheWhale · 13/11/2010 20:22

I know someone with a DD called Phoebe who will soon be having another DD to be called Holly. Think Poppy was considered as a choice as well.

autodidact · 13/11/2010 20:16

Holly

MammyG · 13/11/2010 20:15

I have a 7 week old Phoebe and get very positive reactions to the name. I love it and dont worry about nicknames. People will call her what you let them.

jeneroo · 13/11/2010 19:51

Phoebe all the way!!!!!!!!!!

Lexx · 23/09/2010 14:43

I like Phoebe best. Poppy and Holly are nice too but Phoebe sounds like a stronger name for when she is an adult.

pastahat · 23/09/2010 14:30

I think Holly is lovely, pretty without being too cutesy imo

FranSanDisco · 23/09/2010 13:46

I like Holly best followed by Phoebe.

tammytoby · 23/09/2010 13:44

"Poppy sounds like someone letting off"

"I find Poppy to close to Poopy"

Some of you really have a creative mind Grin

Kathleen123 · 23/09/2010 13:43

I like all the names.

persephoneplum · 23/09/2010 13:30

Phoebe

I can't stand the other two. Holly is boring and Poppy sounds like someone letting off.

I was turned off this excessively 'pretty' name by a poor young teen named Poppy who was very unfortunate looking. I think there's so much pressure to be pretty with these hyper-feminine flower names.

Phoebe rocks.
