This was top of my list for DD1 due in November, but worried it's becoming rapidly popular this year. I've heard it's also top of the shortlist for a few mutual friends. Confused

I just suggested Isabeau!

seaturtle · 19/09/2010 10:34

It's a nice name but I've only heard it used as a boy's name. However giving girls boy's names seems to be quite acceptable these days. I have a friend with a female Sydney and another with a girly.... Jedidiah!

I'd worry about her being teased about Body Odour at school with the spelling Bo!!!

Any suggestions on names that could have Beau/Bo as a nn?

It's a silly name for a girl because it's a masculine word.

Better to do an ulrika and go for Bo.

Tippychoocks · 19/09/2010 10:31

But it is the masculine word Confused.
Call her something else and use Bo as a nickname.

I just love the sound of the name Beau, I'm aware that it means handsome but girls can be handsome can't they?

Horrendous. There are lots of pretty girls names, this is not one of them.

belgo · 19/09/2010 10:23

Bo or Belle for a girl
Beau for a boy.

That said, Isabeau is a girl's name in Belgium.

MarionCole · 19/09/2010 10:23

Belle because it's the feminine version of beau (which is masculine)

MarionCole · 19/09/2010 10:23

What everyone else said

cookielove · 19/09/2010 10:22

i believe Bo, is the girl spelling, however i do think it is very pretty, and i prefer the beau spelling. Not sure why it should be Belle Bucharest?

savoycabbage · 19/09/2010 10:21

Bo surely. You can't call a girl Beau any more than you can call a girl Richard.

skidoodly · 19/09/2010 10:20

It's so horrible and wrong

ILoveGregoryHouse · 19/09/2010 10:17

Er, no. It's a boys name. And even that's a stretch.

Bucharest · 19/09/2010 10:16

Well it would be Belle for starters.

Please don't do it.
