having some difficulties finding a name for dd due in december.

so far we have:

Teagan
Liara
Alana
freya
lola
Alaia
Nevaeh
Lucia
Dakota

any other suggestions welcome!

I like Lola the best and Freya is nice but very popuar around here.

What are you aiming for?

A bit free spirited,not traditionally British but not too out there?

Perhaps if you put your thinking into a post as well people could add something other than "Yuck" by all your choices! Sorry that no one likes the names so far by the way Sad.

Teagan -- dislike
Liara -- sounds made up, Disneyish.
(LYRA is nicer by far imo. And LARA)
Alana -- LIKE, spelled Alanna
freya -- LIKE
lola -- LIKE
Alaia -- Al-ay-ah? A-lie-ah? How do you pronounce it? If A-lie-ah, then too close to 'a liar'
Nevaeh -- PLEASE NOOOOOOOOOO
Lucia -- LIKE
Dakota -- AGAIN, NOOOOOOOO

Actually kind of like Dakota but I wouldn't use it myself (DH wouldn't let me!). I have a hankering for all those USA state names - Georgia, Denver etc.

Love Lucia - it's a beautiful name.

Lola, Alana and Freya are ok too.

I really dislike the others though sorry

Lucia is lovely but how would you pronounce it? That's quite important.

We have very different taste in names I think.

Nevaeh is a real name if by real you mean that people use it. I know a newborn Nevaeh. It was quite popular a couple of years ago. It's Not Nice.

What about Lyra or Liora? They are similar to Liara but without the 'liar' bit and with some history and nice meanings.

Again, Alaia sounds like 'a liar', if I'm pronouncing it correctly.

Lucia has about four standard pronunciations (Loochia, Loosia, Loothia, Loosha) which could be a big pain, and I would expect a Lucia to be Spanish or Italian.

Alana is nice, so is Freya.

I'm not the best person to ask as I don't like the trend for made up names etc so the Ok ones are just the ones that are 'real' names for want of a better description!

I know an Alaia. Pretty name. She is Basque, so think it might be a Basque name?

Alaia - hmm, not sure about this one really
Nevaeh - sorry to sound dim but I don't know how this is pronounced so can't really comment. Blush
Lucia - love it

Sorry, I'm not keen on those names except for Freya. Alana is OK, but the name reminds me of Rod Stewart's first wife. Hate Lola - it reminds me of that extremely buxom woman on Eurotrash:

Nevaeh - as in Heaven backwards? Hmm Not sure how pronounced
