A middle name for Ezekiel

ellesabe · 14/09/2010 13:55

Okay so we think we have finally decided on a boys name but it wasn't one from our original shortlist and we're not sure about a middle name to go with it. The middle names we had on our shortlist were:

Henry
James
George

We are open to any other suggestions but would like to keep the middle name fairly traditional as the forename is a bit unusual.
It doesn't have to be Biblical!

Ezekiel George!

17caterpillars1mouse · 03/12/2018 13:41

I really like Ezekiel and think it's easy to pronounce. Go for it OP. Zeke is cute too

Ezekiel Henry is my favourite followed by Ezekiel James. I also like Ezekiel Thomas

MeganJ93 · 02/12/2018 15:10

I like Ezekiel George & Ezekiel James. I'm leaning more towards Ezekiel George though.

Bluerussian · 01/12/2018 21:38

Mildred
Zebulon

Smile19 · 01/12/2018 21:36

I like it but wouldn't be brave enough to use it. My first thought was the walking dead TV show, even though I've read the Bible and know it comes from there. Do what feels right for you :)

I like it with James.

Jasmine2b · 01/12/2018 14:14

Ezekiel mean the strength of god so I think it’s a nice name and it can be said in Spanish too

AlohaMama · 19/08/2015 08:23

good point nomontaguees Confused

NoMontagues · 19/08/2015 07:28

She's probably chosen by now seeing as the thread was from 2010.

poocatcherchampion · 19/08/2015 07:28

I love it and love Zeke but dh reckons we are too boring for it. And he wants a bible name.

I'm surprised at reactions on here.

AlohaMama · 19/08/2015 07:22

I think Ezekial is a less common biblical name but to me doesn't sound that strange, especially considering some other names you read on here. I'd have no problem pronouncing it but then I read the bible so it's not unusual to me. I've been on the lookout for other biblical names to go with my DSs but hadn't thought of this because I'm not a huge fan of Zeke as a nn, though I suppose you could also use Ez, or Ezzie?

Agree with other posters that James is nice for middle.

KnitFastDieWarm · 18/08/2015 22:53

Bit surprised at some of the responses here...If you're Jewish or Christian then ezekiel really isn't that outlandish Hmm I know a tiny elijah and he really suits his name Smile

OP, it's a good strong OT name and I like it paired with a 'J' name like James or John.

Hydemylove · 18/08/2015 14:30

I'm one for looking up meanings of names. I absolutely love the name Ezekiel. Did you know that that name actually means the strength of God. I think that if you were to name your child that he would grow to be a strong young man in his future. I would make sure he knew where his name came from and it's meaning.

nickelbabe · 18/09/2010 16:11

I like Ezekiel.
it's alovely, strong biblical name.

and Ezekiel James is great. :)

cupcake75 · 16/09/2010 22:21

I knew an Ezekiel once. He officially changed his name to Alex when he was a young teenager.

James is a good middle name choice.

No it's not a wind-up! I can't believe people think Ezekiel is so unusual when I look at some of the other suggestions on this forum!

Thank you for all of the positive comments - it looks like Ezekiel James might be the most popular. I think I like this one best too so I shall broach the subject again with DH!

Why would it be a wind up? Are you saying the OP is a troll because the name is unusual? Jeez you lot must live very boring lives!

The only reason I didn't have Ezekiel on my list was because one of my best friends got there first!

fiordgirl · 16/09/2010 00:03

OP hasn't appeared for a while, so I think that this might have been a bit of a wind up.

lowrib · 15/09/2010 23:48

Ezekiel is a lovely, lovely name.

please ignore the nay-sayers. Generally I find many mumsnet posters are pretty conservative on the whole when it comes to more unusual names, favouring "classic" (IMO boring) names, so you've done really well to get as many positive responses as you have!

IME people are more polite once you've actually named your child! And people get used to an unusual name once they've heard it a few times anyway.

I like James best from your list.

SiriusStar · 15/09/2010 21:48

Ezekiel, good solid name.
A really under-used biblical name that people would be more familiar with than say, Habbakuk or Zephaniah.
I vote for James as a middle name.
Too many Isaacs, Reubens and Noahs.
Go for it!

CoteDAzur · 15/09/2010 21:04

Don't do it. He won't thank you for this.

BuntyPenfold · 15/09/2010 12:23

Ouch fiordgirl, that is harsh.

sophiesmummie · 15/09/2010 12:07

"I hope you will prepare your son for the lifetime of ridicule and abuse that he will surely receive." fiordgirl, where do you live? And what values do you teach your children?

Personally I think Ezekiel is a great choice and agree that a single syllable middle name probably works best: Ezekiel James.
