There are lots of other names out there that mean 'peace', if that is the particular meaning you want to look for.

Not at all, in fact the Mum of one of my friends is called Irene & she is a lovely lovely lady. I just can't see it on a baby & in my head I say it like 'Ire-e-e-e-n', just like Boycie says 'Marle-e-e-ne' from Only Fools & Horses!
