BJ?

My eldest son's initials are BJS. When he was about 4 months old, a particularly nasty neighbour started making fun saying 'how could I lumber a boy with the initials BJ' and laughing hysterically! I was really gutted as I hadn't thought of that but just fobbed her off that we loved the name so much, it didn't matter. Have we made an awful faux pas???? It's not like he is just BJ as in Ben Jones with no middle name etc ...Angry

Abbreviation for Blow Job, onimolap

Just because now I finally have some time to sit and waste time on the computer!!! Just wanted to throw it out there and see if I was the most ignorant person on Earth!! And because I have become obsessed with names lately - long story!! For the record, I believe Posh and Beck's little boy Brooklyn is a BJ too - Brooklyn Joseph if I remember! And if it's good enough for him ....

Really ignorant here: what's wrong with BJ?

MrsRhettButler · 08/09/2010 22:06

i know a bj who is actually called bj. he is barry junior but no one really knows that, he is just bj and he is fine (in fact i think he likes it and if anyone is cheeky enough to mention it he asks if they would like to give him one!)

good character building name

MummyLovesSadie · 08/09/2010 22:04

WHAT???? No it's not awful in the least little bit. It just shows the level of your neighbour's infantile sense of humour. I certainly wouldn't snigger if someone's first & middle initial was 'BJ' .

Just wondering why you are asking now if he is your eldest ds & this happened when he was four months old?

cyanarasamba · 08/09/2010 22:02

DH has the initials BJM. Have never thought about it in this way - never been a problem for him as far as I know!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 08/09/2010 22:00

It wouldn't have been a set of initials that I would have chosen, but as there's a surname initial to come after the BJ, it's unlikely to be a massive problem.

ShowOfHands · 08/09/2010 21:59

He was teased relentlessly.

As soon as he was old enough, he dropped his middle name officially.

plonker · 08/09/2010 21:56

Hmmm, well, I wouldn't have chosen BJ tbh, but I don't think it's that bad.
It isn't anywhere near as bad as if his actual initials were BJ (with no middle name)!

How old is he? Could you add a another middle name between the B and the J?

fivecrazymonkeys · 08/09/2010 21:49

UnholeyMoley - no I can't - what??
ShowOfHands - yes, that's why I asked ...

Your DH isn't called Barney, is he?

LynetteScavo · 08/09/2010 21:47

Just don't call your next child Baby Bop.

ShowOfHands · 08/09/2010 21:46

I went to school with a chap with the first initials BJ.

Do you want an honest answer?

UnholyMoley · 08/09/2010 21:46

It's only a problem if you refer to him as 'BJ' and I suppose he might get some ribbing in school.

My colleague's surname is Head. I bet you can't guess what she called her (now 30yr old) son.
