Names you KNOW are perfectly nice but which you have an irrational hatred for

I'll go first-

Anne/Anna
Nancy

I don't know why I feel such a strong dislike for them! Perfectly nice normal names logically but for me.......no. To say the least.

Apologies to any parents of Annas or Nancys, I know I am the freakish one for feeling this way!

Figured everyone would have at least one name like this?

SmellsLikeTeenSweat · 07/09/2010 19:32

Simon. I've known two horrible ones.
Paige, Brooke, Madison, Fletcher etc.

lucyintheskywithdinos · 07/09/2010 19:32

Susan

no idea why

MarineIguana · 07/09/2010 19:31

Yes Emma always seems prissy to me however many non-prissy Emmas I meet.

Adam - yaaaaaawn. I know loads of them and I always think "why?"

I used to Love Eve but now it's the unimaginative name of choice (a bit like Adam weirdly enough)

Supercherry · 07/09/2010 19:29

I don't have any irrational hatred for any names, no.

SixtyFootDoll · 07/09/2010 19:29

Charlotte
Ben

pinkthechaffinch · 07/09/2010 19:26

Alison

there is nothing attractive about this name IMO.

Ruth also.

BenignNeglect · 07/09/2010 19:23

Victoria - only ones I have met were total cows.

Also, Terence/Terry and Hope.

SpiderWilliam · 07/09/2010 19:20

Emma and Emily both are just a bit wet but I can see that Jane Austin's "Emma" is anything but, so I can accept that this is irrational.

asdx2 · 07/09/2010 19:09

Charlotte, Grace and Madeline.

Nathan,Alexander and Lewis.

For no reason other than they're not for me.

Skyrg · 07/09/2010 18:57

Most people would pronounce them the same, so you'd never notice which they were calling you.. :)
As I said, I pronounce them differently, but that doesn't seem that common. I should also say that I quite like it when said, just not when written (completely irrational I know, but that was the point of this thread).

Also, I hate my own name!

ArseHolio · 07/09/2010 18:54

As an actual Sarah I would be fucking pissed off if some halfwit started calling me Sara because they didn't like Sarah Hmm

colditz · 07/09/2010 18:54

Gemma

Skyrg · 07/09/2010 18:53

Sorry Monkey, I'm sure you're lovely! I do like the name, I just hate my associations with it and thus could never use it. Feel free to prove me wrong Grin

sallyseton · 07/09/2010 18:52

Is that directed at me vinegar ?

I can assure you that I do not post under my real name! Grin

Skyrg · 07/09/2010 18:52

But I mentally pronounce them differently, so perhaps that's why I don't like Sarah. Still, generally they're now considered pretty much the same name.

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 07/09/2010 18:51

Ethan
Lauren

I think it's the -en ending

And Evie

monkeyfacegrace · 07/09/2010 18:51

Oh fuck off skyrg Wink
as you were.

Skyrg · 07/09/2010 18:50

Not if you look them up on most baby names websites.

ArseHolio · 07/09/2010 18:49

Yes but they are supposed to be pronounced differently..

Sa-ra or Sarah

Sinkingfeeling · 07/09/2010 18:48

Oscar for me - total irrational dislike.
