Does anyone have an opinion on these names?

DH and I are a bit of a mixture of different heritages so we didn't want something too English or popular!

Do you think these are pretty names that could work well in the UK and potentially abroad in the future?

Paloma is lovely :) Can't see why Picasso would put anyone off.

Valentina is quite nice too. Chiara is OK but a bit like Chianti, and Allegra is a bit horsey.

I like Valentina and Chiara, very pretty.

Not so keen on Allegra or Paloma (which reminds me of horses and Picasso)

Valentina is lovely (Valentine is also nice).

Allegra is okay too - I think of Allegra Geller in Existenz.

To me, Chiara and Paloma both sound like foodstuffs. Allegra is slightly nicer but I always think it sounds a bit clumsy.

Valentina I love though. I know of a beautiful baby Valentina.

I know a Chiara - she is the sweetest thing. Her mum is Italian and her dad is West Indian. I think its a lovely name. Paloma is nice too

completely disagree wuth flisspaps Grin so do what sounds best for you
paloma is not nice the only one I "know" is picasso's duaghter

Allegra sounds made up (I know it is not), a bit like the naughty sister in cinderella, and to close to allegro (music term tough I didn't know it was a car!)

Chiara and Valentina are nice.

Flisspaps · 06/09/2010 10:30

I like Paloma. Lots.

Allegra makes me think of an Austin Allegro though, every time I think of that chef Allegra (is it McEveddy or something) I just visualise an old car :(

Don't think Chiara or Valentina are particularly pretty names, although if I know you and you tell me that's what your DD is called, I'll say 'ooh how lovely' Wink
