Lola or Summer

Okay, baby due in 7 days now and love these 2 names but just can't decide.....

I know they are a bit 'cutesy' and not everyone's cup of tea so if you hate them both then please don't post (I'm very hormonal! Blush) but if you do prefer one to the other let me know as I'm having a really tough time deciding now!

Wondering which one will sound better as she gets older too? (not bothered about the high court judge test - I don't believe in all that!). Also not bothered about which is the most popular too.

Middle names will be Eleanor Rose.... Thanks!

I have a Lola so that gets my vote.

I think Summer is pretty too.

skooobie · 16/09/2010 20:34

LOLA!!!!

BEAUTIFUL name! my dd is lola holly as she was born just on chrstmas, and is the most beautiful baby xx

LarkinSky · 04/09/2010 20:17

Eleanor Rose is absolutely gorgeous, classy, unusual... I might steal it myself Wink.

Of Summer and Lola, I'd say Summer, but neither are really my cup of tea.

Eleanor Rose, however... beautiful ring to it, great nickname potential too (Ellie, Elle, etc etc)

MamaLazarou · 04/09/2010 18:59

Summer is classier (but Eleanor is classier than both!).

sophieandbelly · 04/09/2010 18:22

both nice but another summer vote here!!

Chathappy · 02/09/2010 17:04

Okay, think I'm more confused now as the mumsnet consensus seems to be fairly even !

I'm not a hippy, but I do quite like hippy names lauriefairycake Grin. I love names like Willow, Meadow, Eden etc.......... also, british summer time ends sometime about the 23rd Sept and baby will be born by then so will still officially be summer (although I know it's starting to feel like autumn recently!).

Maybe I should wait till she is born and then I just have to decide if she looks more like a stripper or a hippy? Grin

Another vote for Eleanor Rose here.

noddyholder · 02/09/2010 16:06

lola

Lauriefairycake · 02/09/2010 15:57

Lola but only as a nickname for a longer name

Summer is too hippy-ish (unless you're an actual hippy - if you are feel free to go aheadGrin) Also tis stupid to call your kid Summer in erm.... Autumn.

TheNextMrsDepp · 02/09/2010 15:56

Summer is really pretty. Lola is o-kaaaaay but getting rather common.

grapeandlemon · 02/09/2010 15:53

Lola is overdone

Summer is better

Zondra · 02/09/2010 15:46

Lola for definite.

Unfortunately,Summer to me is the more porny-type name.American porn-starry,Las Vegasy.Sorry!

Lola sounds more continental,french/italian?
Lola conjures up an image of a beautiful young woman with a short bob.Very gamine.

Nefret · 02/09/2010 11:06

There is a Lola and a Summer in my dd's class at school. They are both nice but I think I prefer Lola.

diddl · 02/09/2010 07:46

Could you not have Eleanor nn Lola?

diddl · 02/09/2010 07:44

I prefer Lola to Summer, but I like Eleanor best!

NiceCuppaT · 02/09/2010 04:57

I love Lola, but for some reason it always gets a harsh reception from mumsnetters!!

Mind you some people who slate it love the names rita, ethel and esmerelda, so take from that what you like!!!

Neither - but Eleanor Rose is beautiful. Just use that instead Grin

Giddyup · 01/09/2010 20:44

Summer definitely. I like Lola too, but it's a bit 'tarty'

facebook · 01/09/2010 20:38

Summer is a lot prettier than Lola. Love Summer but Lola is just OK.

Chathappy · 01/09/2010 20:29

Thanks for the replies. Think I'm more swayed towards Summer, and dh is swayed towards Lola...... But we both like both names (which almost makes it harder!)

mildmanneredjanitor you're the second person who has said that ! I do think it sounds nice but mainly using those mn as tribute to our late nans. I do love Summer and Lola as first names.

llandb yes although it is feeling autumn like now I thought about that and officially summer time ends on the 23rd sept or something like that? And baby will definitely be born by then ! It's funny though as I never used to think about names like that being used at the right time either Smile... Not sure if it does matter!

Summer.

Lola makes me think of a stripper.

Kingsroadie · 01/09/2010 17:17

I like them both but I think that Summer goes better with the middle names.

llandb · 01/09/2010 17:08

I like the name Summer best out of those two (but both are lovely).

DP wouldn't hear of it for our DD though - and he pointed out that when we move back Down Under, her birthday will be in winter.

Possibly important question - do you feel that she has to be born in summer to be called Summer (and do you feel that it's still summer? :))

(It never dawned on me that someone called 'April' or 'June' or 'Tuesday' is supposed to have been born then, but some people expect it!)

seaturtle · 01/09/2010 16:39

I like both names, especially Summer and even though Lola means grandma where I come from!
