Sorry to bug you all again re: name for my DD due on thursday. I am having another last minute wobble about names. Could you just let me know which one of these names you prefer. Thanks again Smile

Isabella
Florence
Esther
Beatrice or Beatrix
Felicity

My grandmother was nn Florrie. Except in hospital, of course, where they noticed her name was Florence and called her Flo, which no one had ever called her in her life so unsurprisingly she didn't respond to...

FoxyRevenger · 26/08/2010 13:25

We have a Kate Esther Grin

A wee bit of me will always regret not going for Esther as her first name though.

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 13:19

Thanks Professor - Fee Fee is quite a cute nn for felicity. For the name Esther, I quite like the nn's Ettie or Etta but not sure yet wheather I would just stick to calling her Esther. Im not too keen on the nn's for florence - prefer I think Flossie and for Beatrice/trix I would use Bea or trixie Smile

Esther or Beatrice.

I know a Felicity who is Fee (might spell it Fi, though).

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 10:55

Lowrib - I have just got around to looking through that link and it has got some great names with their meanings. Thanks for that.

Managed to eventually get to sleep last night but all I had going around in my head were Esther or Florence - Florence or Esther... this baby naming is sending me crazyGrin

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 00:18

Thanks Lowrib, Gosh due date finally here - I wouldn't want to make a decision yet but I think my favourites at the moment would have to be in order of preference:

Esther Isabella
Florence Isabella
Florence Beatrice or Beatrix (not sure)
Beatrix Rose

I told you - I am soooo indecisive Confused

I am going to try and sleep on it and hope the insomnia that I think I have sorted out doesn't kick in again Smile

lowrib · 26/08/2010 00:12

Esther Isabella has a nice rhythm I think.

lowrib · 26/08/2010 00:10

Well you made it, well done! Happy due day!

Camille is lovely.

Camille Isabella?
Esther Isabella?

Celeste is cool, great name.

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 00:05

Lowrib - that sounds like my kind of diet. Thanks for the link as well, I will have a good read through it in the morning, as I can feel my eyes starting to go. This is my second child, I have a gorgeous 3 year old DS already.

Dizzydixies - Isabella is a beautiful name that has been one of my all time favourites. It is just really popular where I live. There is 3 in the school nursery and I have taught a couple myself. Beautiful name though.

oooh I like Camille, I can't make my mind up on Celeste at moment. Thanks for the suggestions Smile

dizzydixies · 25/08/2010 23:56

We have an Isabella and she's the only one we know - it depends where you live.

Beatrice preferable to Beatrix

Florence - not for me
Esther ok

How about Camille or Celeste?

lowrib · 25/08/2010 23:54

Here's a baby name site I really like. It's not the prettiest site, but the info's great www.babynamespedia.com/

lowrib · 25/08/2010 23:50

Your due date's tomorrow? Ooh how exciting Grin

Mmm cake! Is this your first? I didn't crave anything at all during pregnancy then once I;d started BF, I craved cake and custard like it was going out of fashion. And twix bars (can't eat one now.) I lost weight too, it was my eat-cake-and-BF diet Grin

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 23:45

Thanks lowrib. Im going to try and stay up until midnight so I can officially be up for the end of my birthday and the start of my due date. I have had a fab day eating way too much cake instead of drinking way too much wine as I would have normally done Grin

OP posts:
lowrib · 25/08/2010 23:37

Ooh happy birthday! Grin

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 23:25

Thanks fecker - was sort of hoping for an additional birthday treat but so far I have just got backache. My EDD is oficially in 42 mins time. Maybe she will be one of those babies that do come on their due date or maybe not!

Thanks for your suggestions. Gabriella is lovely and one of my friends is called this, so this would make her happy. My other friend is Isabel so, good suggestions either way Smile

Sugarskyhigh and lowrib thanks for both your feedback. It really does help.
I still like Florence but it has become a little tarnished now the Camerons have used it. I am happy for them but frustrated for myself Confused

Fecker · 25/08/2010 23:13

Happy Birthday! :)

I do like Isabella. Not wild about the other names but can I throw in Gabrielle/ Gabriella as a curveball?!

xxx

lowrib · 25/08/2010 23:04

Esther is lovely.

Don't go for Florence unless you don't mind people thinking you've named your DD after the Cameron's baby

Rose and Grace are lovely but they're ridiculously popular as middle names.

DessieLou · 25/08/2010 23:01

I think you are right, have a few shortlisted and see how it sounds when your little bundle arrives. Good luck...not long to go!
Let us know what you decide on!

SugarSkyHigh · 25/08/2010 22:59

Isabella - beautiful name! sounds like a lovely willowy beautiful grownup person (and your baby will be a grown up for longer than she is a baby). Whilst she's little, you can abbreviate to Issi, Issy, Izzy, Isa, Bella, Belle.
my 2nd choice: Felicity. There's not many arounhd and it must be due for a revival. Could be abbreviated to Flissy? I must be honest, I wanted to be called Felicity myself when I was little!
My 3rd choice: Beatrice/Beatrix - abbreviated to Bea.
Florence/Esther - well those are both awful, sorry !

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 22:55

Thanks for that DessieLou - I am finding it sooo hard deciding on a name. I know that when I see her we will know which name to choose. It's just with my DS we chose and announced a name, called it him for 4 days then changed our minds and had to quickly choose another name because we hadn't made a shortlist. The initial one just didn't some how suit him. So wanted to try and avoid this with a good shortlist this time around. Sorry for waffling on Smile

OP posts:
DessieLou · 25/08/2010 22:50

I also like Beatrice Rose...so either Esther or Beatrice would be my choice.

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 22:47

Thanks DessieLou. Can I ask, do you prefer it over the other names? Smile

OP posts:
DessieLou · 25/08/2010 22:41

Esther Rose is lovely!

Roz14 · 25/08/2010 22:24

I was the same up until hearing a little girl being called Esther. it made me look at the name in a different light Smile

penny09 · 25/08/2010 22:05

Felicity is such a pretty name. I recently met a mum (Esther) and daughter (Stella) and thought they were really nice names, which I'd never thought of as possibilities for future girls name.
