Isabella and Beatrice

CDMforever · 21/09/2010 22:22

We loved Isabella too but as its soo popular these days opted for the hugely rare Arabella (well, in theses parts anyway). I LOVE the name tho it does sound very posh sometimes. She is usually Bella which is just gorgeous too.
Florence Annabel is heavenly.Many congrats!!!

mummamango · 21/09/2010 21:23

Florence or Isabella!

LadyMetroland · 21/09/2010 21:19

lovely name! congratulations

merlino123 · 21/09/2010 14:37

Sorry didn't read your above post or the dates (new here and confused pregnant lady!) sounds a brilliant choice, what a pretty name x

emmyloo2 · 21/09/2010 13:28

Excellent choice - I love love love Florence!!!

merlino123 · 21/09/2010 11:29

I like Beatrice.... Bea as a nickname is very cute.

Such a shame that Isabella is so popular, I really used to like that name but have removed it from my list now as now it's popular I've gone off it.

How about some of the similar ones - Anabella, Arabella, Isabelle etc?

HeadingHome · 21/09/2010 11:28

Very pretty BTW!

HeadingHome · 21/09/2010 11:28

Congratulations - glad you are happy with your final choice!

Hi ladies. Just to let you know that we have decided on a name but it has been a bit of a carry on to say the least. My DD was born on the 7th and after 3 days with no name decided on Etsher Grace. However, after calling her this and informing family and friends, I became really weepy because I felt that the name didn't suit her (not sure why!). Anyway 2 weeks on and only yesterday we came to a final decision with the help of my 3 year old DS (I let him choose out of a choice of 3 names) and we have opted for Florence Annabel, which I do think really suits her. It has been really difficult because one set of parents loves Esther, whilst the other didn't and one set loves florence and dislikes Florence. I know that I shouldn't let any feedback sway me but it did a little Blush but feel happy with my DS's choice. Thanks for all your feedback Grin

Thanks Chatelaine. I will let you know which one I choose. I think as things stand tonight, I am still favouring Esther, followed closely by Florence & Beatrix - with Isabella being the middle name Smile

Please let us know what you decide, all in good time of course! Best wishes, lovely dilemma.

Roz14 · 27/08/2010 19:02

Sorry - should read anyone other than DH and DS.

Dizzydixies - I know your right. I promised myself this time around that I would not discuss the baby's name with anyone that my DH and DS. This is what has got me into doubting my choices. All those Hmm faces have really been off putting at times.

Chatelaine - lovely suggestions and thanks for your feedback on Isabella Smile

Charlotte or Imogen, but otherwise Isabella. Good luck with the birth. When you look at her for the first time, holding her in yours arms, it's possible that you will just know and say "Oh hello -" Smile

dizzydixies · 27/08/2010 18:31

stop speaking to people about it - everyone will have an opinion on it AND will hopefully be too polite to air silly opinions once baby is here and named

Roz14 · 27/08/2010 17:57

My MIL has just been this afternoon and informed me that she really doesn't like the name Florence and also that everyone would definately think I was naming her after the Camerons baby.

She likes Esther but not so keen on Beatrice but quite likes Beatrix - I am getting more confused by the day Confused

stressheaderic - Esther for us would definately be Esther with a silent h Es-ter. I agree with you that the trick is to get your chosen nn in there first before anyone else does.

VivianDarkbloom - thanks for your feedback. I think trixie is a really cute nn too.

FoxyRevenger - I think so too but I am still being pulled by florence Isabella too Confused

Esther Isabella is really gorgeous, you should go for it!

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 16:58

Foxyrevenger - I keep getting lots of HmmHmm Hmm when I say the name, well not just that all the others on my shortlist as well. That is why I am sort of hoping to get some reasurance from you MN's. By the way Kate Esther is a baeutiful name, so I would not even have the slightest bit regret about not putting Esther as her first name. I couldn't give the name Kate as a first name because we have got one of those already Wink.

Lizzzombie - I have never heard that nn being used for Beatrix before. I think it's quite quirky.

You know Esther, is it Es-ther, with a lisp? Or Es-ter (silent h)? Just wondering. The only Esther I know of is Esther Rantzen who it appears, gets called Es-ter. Having said that though, I think it's a GREAT name.

My daughter has a B-name (not Beatrice) and evryone calls her Bee, which we really like. Nicknames are inevitable, the trick is to get in and start them yourself so people start using 'your' one rather than whatever they choose.

Lizzzombie · 26/08/2010 15:55

One of my friends was called Beatrix, but her nick name growing up was 'Binky'. She hated it, but even now at 32 she still gets called it by family & close friends!

FoxyRevenger · 26/08/2010 15:51

Roz14, lots of people made this face Hmm when we mentioned Esther as a possibility so I decided not to go with it, but I do regret it a bit; they would have learned to love it.

Plus, when she was born I took one look at her and said 'Kate Esther' so that was that!

Roz14 · 26/08/2010 13:34

FoxyRevenger - Kate Esther is a beautiful name. I hope you dont mind me asking but why did you decide not to call her Esther as her first name. I do like Kate though, it has got a family significance for me.

Professor - it really winds me up when people take it upon themselves to give somebody a nn when they have never heard that person be called by that nn by anyone else. Im not suprised that she didnt answer to it after all those years.
