would probably say Ever-lin even though I think Eve-lin is nicer

I would really hope you wouldn't pronounce it Eve-lin if we're talking about a girl. Ev-lin is the feminine pronunciation, Eve-lin has always been male. As in Ev-lin Welch and Eve-lin Waugh.

It was my grandmother's name and she said "ev-lin". However I think this is a minority pronouciation today as the little ones I know are all "eve-lin".
