Twins names...help!

apples123 · 23/08/2010 20:25

Were sleep deprived parents of 3 week old twins, little boy after much debate will now be called Matthew Robert....little girls name is causing problems.

I knew we should have picked names before they arrived...but we decided not to find sexes, and then stupidly said we`d pick after they were born, not taking into account general exhaustion!

Had to cancel names registration today as still hadnt decided, and now were getting desperate!

Have a Martha already, def don`t want to use another name with initial M....would like something timeless,elegant,classic-we like Charlotte/Eleanor/Elizabeth + similiar ilk-dh not keen on those particular ones due to either popularity/family reasons .

Please help...any suggestions welcome!

Dorcas (gazelle)

Lydia (woman from Lydus)

Rebekah, Rachael, Ruth, Sarah, Naomi...

Martha and Matthew both wonderful...you could scrap Matthew Robert and have a Matthew and Roberta, or have a Robert and a Matilda.

Sorry ,have`nt yet decided-day goes so quickly with feeds and nappies that I rarely get a chance to log on....we have a registration appointment on Thursday so will have to focus and decide before then.Tonight will hopefully force a decision!
Will def update-thanks for all suggestions!

Yes Imogen, that's nice, but I prefer Martha. It scans better 'Martha and Matthew'.

I love Catherine...but its our first daughters middle name, and dh sisters name ,so cannot use.

Yes,Martha and Matthew do sound v similiar, but we both loved Martha first time round, and Matthew was only one dh really liked(I like too but also liked 2-3 others as much)and he convinced me we should treat the naming of each child individually rather then trying to "fit " too much with siblings names....3 "M`s " though is too much however!

Hmm ...am now just too confused with it all!
Imogen Elizabeth?

I'm disappointed, I thought you were going to be looking for names for both of them and I was thinking of lots of lovely pairs of names like Stan and Ollie and that kind of thing.
Oh well!
I agree with Catherine with diminutives Katie and Kate or Cathy (bit old fashioned though)?
Carlotta, like Charlotte but a bit of a twist and you have Carly, Carla, Lotta and Lottie as diminutives.
Gertrude - Gert, Gertie and Trude/y/a
Florence - Flossie, Florrie
Dorothy - Dolly, Dorrie, Dottie and Dora

Thanks so much all...some great suggestions there ,I quite like Lydia and Alice esp, shall ponder them all over the 3 am feed tonight!
Should have said our surname is an "M" also, two M`s is far too much already! We hope to keep Matthew as it is without shortening, unless he decides otherwise himself.
Will update whenever/if we ever make a decision anyhow!

May I suggest you give her an 'M' name as a middle name so she doesnt feel 'left out'!
