Nearly at the end of this four hundred year pregnancy and i have bounced from Sheherazade to Emma to Honey to Florence/Iris/ Lily.....have finally come to my senses and our chosen girls name is definitely going to be Elizabeth....DH is thrilled as he loves this name and its a bit of a nod to my DM who has adored this name forever.....Surely this level of sensibleness means i can have a slightly kooky middle name???

I really want to call her Elizabeth Coco....

whaddya say??

My cat is called Coco!

Psammead · 20/08/2010 08:07

Yes, sensible first name = unusual middle name in my book too!

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 20/08/2010 07:24

I think it's great. I think of middle names as a backup for the child if their first doesn't fit them as an adult. No point an Elizabeth deciding that she's not that sort of girl, and only having Margaret to fall back on, after all.

Elizabeth Coco is great, go for it.

Bagpusstree · 20/08/2010 07:20

I've loved coco as a name for most of my preg, but alas have been vetoed! Think it's a great idea as a second name and may suggest it myself....... Elizabeth coco is fab. Huckleberry is my cats name, and I've never met another!

horatia · 19/08/2010 21:26

Elizabeth Cassandra
Elizabeth Clea
Elizabeth Carmen
Elizabeth Coralie
Elizabeth Clementine
Elizabeht Cerise

....... and I like morganbuffay's suggestion of Elizabeth Sheherazade :)

morganbuffay · 19/08/2010 20:01

Absolutely Yes to the question in your title. No to Coco itself. Why not Elizabeth Sheherazade, that would be awesome! Something like Sheherazade has more to it, imo, than somehting trendy like Coco that is a bit clown-ish imo and was just Coco Chanel's nickname (that Wiki link someone posted says "During this time, Chanel performed in clubs in Vichy and Moulins where she was called ?Coco.? Some say that the name comes from one of the songs she used to sing, and Chanel herself said that it was a ?shortened version of cocotte, the French word for ?kept woman,? according to an article in The Atlantic." Hmm

MadAboutQuavers · 19/08/2010 18:43

LOL @ Sirboobalot Grin

"Coco is a monkey's name"

Afraid I agree!

catinthehat2 · 19/08/2010 18:31

Wow.

Coco
Huckleberry
Tempest

All a bit try hard/Boden child model for me.

scubagoose · 19/08/2010 18:24

Of course you can.

Friends of ours named their son Charlie (which is far too normal in their books) he has a strange middle name. his name tags etc just say Charlie T (then surname) his middle name is Tempest.. they recon it will be great chat up line when he is older getting girls to guess what the T is for.

... and then there was Coco in "Fame"

Bobbalina · 18/08/2010 19:22

I nearly chose a lightweight middle name for my dd and am so very glad now that i didn't!!!

Bobbalina · 18/08/2010 18:59

Sorry I think it sounds pretty silly after a serious first name

If you like it why not use it as a first name?

mathanxiety · 18/08/2010 18:55

Lovely, original without being 'yunique'. It's like yin and yang. It gives a secret wild side to Elizabeth, and Coco is stylish in a way that Chanel is not.

I love Huckleberry too.

changer22 · 18/08/2010 18:46

DF has a DS with Huckleberry in the middle. I fancied it as a first name.

Ours have wacky middles too but then their first names are on the more unusual side...

Atlasive · 18/08/2010 18:44

I'm afraid I don't like Coco or Huckleberry and don't think they really fit with the traditional first names. Sorry!

tummytickler · 18/08/2010 18:37

boodlebot, I love Huckleberry - alas, dh think I am mad!

5inthebed · 18/08/2010 17:22

Huckleberry? Different, never heard it used before. I love William, DS1 has William as a middle name.

boodleboot · 18/08/2010 16:56

For boy i want George Huckleberry William....

LaDiDaDi · 18/08/2010 16:24

5inthebed · 18/08/2010 15:02

I love it, go for it!

What's the boys alternative?

boodleboot · 18/08/2010 14:53

AbFabT · 18/08/2010 12:59

I suggested Coco as a mn to DH, but he was having none of it. Lucky you - go for it!

Sinkingfeeling · 18/08/2010 12:48

I like Coco and I'm not a fan of kooky names usually. Didn't Courtney Cox call her daugher Coco?

PfftTheMagicDragon · 18/08/2010 12:46

Yes I think you can - this is what we did.No-one ever asks their middle names.
