Feminine, unusual, ethereal girl's names- any ideas?

I would like some ideas for girl's names that are not too commonly used, feminine but not feminissima if that makes sense!

Am looking for something light and slightly exotic sounding.

I have a few ideas so far:

Adela
Jessamine
Marguerite
Juniper
Vivienne
Marina
Camilla

Any opinions or other ideas??

Serina/Serena?

Why ethereal, OP? Just curious... I can think of a lot of things I hope dd will be, but that ain't one of 'em (and rofl at the memory of reading Cold Comfort Farm).

shubiedoo · 16/08/2010 19:56

I love Seraphina and Alyssia.

sleepyhead3 · 16/08/2010 19:52

frogs- will have to look it up!

Hopefully, you can have a feminine name and common sense too!

Melusine

it's the name of a beautiful water witch IIRC

can't get more feyly feminie and eldritch than that!

Vivienne is beautiful and timeless. Adela I think may sadly get Ella as a nick name and Ella is v. popular. Vivienne has a certain charm to it and is very elegant(IMO).

My daughter's called Carissa. We have only met one Carissa in 6 years[but i am not sure how ethereal a name it is!]

Re Cold Comfort Farm -- the message is that etherealness ends in tears, and robust common sense wins the day. It's a lovely book, everyone should have read it.

The girl in question is called Elfine, iirc.

Just watch out for the sukebind. Grin

sleepyhead3 · 16/08/2010 10:17

jillhastwoponies · 15/08/2010 20:12

You'd better hope that you have an 'ethereal' kind of little girl Wink

My DD is rather 'solid', and not ethereal at all, her ideal name might have been something like Bertha.

hoolies · 15/08/2010 20:09

Evangeline? Ophelia?

favs from your list- Vivienne and Marina

sleepyhead3 · 15/08/2010 20:05

I also like Miranda, Cordelia, Genevieve, Blythe, Xanthe, Marianna, Emmeline from other lists.

getstuffed- do you think Vivienne will rocket because of AJ?
