But is it a dog's name?

My artner and I both love the name Bonnie for a little girl, but I have this feeling it's a dog's name, not a person's name.

Do you know any humans called Bonnie?

There was a girl called Bonnie at school and I always thought it was a really pretty name.

Rival28 · 14/08/2010 20:49

Every name I think of somebody has a pet of the same name! I like it but would not use it because of where I live! Here people would think bonnie Tyler or Cartwright from twin town.

diggingintheribs · 14/08/2010 20:40

Xpost! So bonita is a name and I didn't just make it up.

diggingintheribs · 14/08/2010 20:39

Mrs goggins in postman pat has a dog called bonnie

otherwise I think of it as more of a nickname. Could it be short for something (struggling as I can only think of bonita).

TarheelMama · 14/08/2010 20:37

I have a cousin called Bonnie (49), but it's actually a nickname, her given name is Bonita.

BibiThree · 14/08/2010 20:35

The best nurse we had help look after our prem dts was a young girl called Bonnie, it really suited her and she was a lovely lovely girl. Will always have positive vibes for us [girl]

StrictlyTory · 14/08/2010 20:34

I know one fully grown adult and no dogs called Bonnie!

Poppet45 · 14/08/2010 20:33

Not a dog's name, but did make me think of Bonnie Langford and Bonnie Tyler. But most of all it made me worry for the wee girl incase she has the sort of looks only a mother could love - sorry - but it's such a presumptious name it really would be a bully's dream. I've always shied away from Grace for a similar reason, incase I gave birth to a hulking girl destined for a future in Doc Martens.

Fluteyboots · 14/08/2010 20:31

Bonnie Tyler is a goddess. I went to school with a Bonnie, was short for Bonita. I like.

bluebump · 14/08/2010 20:31

I know two people called Bonnie, both in their 30's.

CheeseandGherkins · 14/08/2010 20:31

Nan had a cat called Bonnie.

Timbachick · 14/08/2010 20:29

Lived next door to a Bonnie when I was 8 - really lovely lady.

Know a Bonnie now - again, nice lady.

Have known a few dogs called Bonnie - sorry!

If you like it, then use it.

FourEyesGood · 14/08/2010 20:28

Makes me think of Bonnie Tyler, but that might be a good thing (if you want your DD to become a gravelly-voiced power balladeer).

ValiumSingleton · 14/08/2010 20:26

ps, so that is a no. Zero dogs, ONE human. hth

LilyBolero · 14/08/2010 20:26

there was a dog Bonnie on Blue Peter, and I had a rabbit called Bonnie.

ValiumSingleton · 14/08/2010 20:26

I like it. You mgiht not have heard of Gerry Ryan, famous Irish radio broadcaster who died recently, he has a daughter Bonnie who is dabbling on the air waves herself now.

I think very cool.

I think of Bonnie Langford straight away (which isn't a good thing!) :)

Tortoise · 14/08/2010 20:22

I know a 10yr old Bonnie.

onimolap · 14/08/2010 20:20

I know one human Bonnie (Dutch, in her 40s), and heard of another who'd be early 20s by now. She was named after the Triumph Bonneville motorcycle.

bourboncreme · 14/08/2010 20:19

I do know a little girl called Bonnie,it suited her ,she is a teenager now so not sure what she feels about it now

tummytickler · 14/08/2010 20:18

I know a B\onnie in her 30's and one of 10. I know no dogs called Bonnie

emsyj · 14/08/2010 20:17

I know two dogs called Bonnie. No humans (except Bonnie Langford - whom I do not know personally).

I would think 'Bonnie Langford' before 'dog'.

AnyFuleKno · 14/08/2010 20:17

I did used to have a dog named Bonnie - but I think it is sweet as a little girls name. Growing up in Scotland if someone was pretty we used to say they were Bonny

mathanxiety · 14/08/2010 20:16

I love it for a girl. I think it's really sweet.

I only know of the speed skater Bonnie Blair -- don't know any in person.
