I love these names, but does anyone have any opinions on these?

have to admit that I thought old lady when I first heard someone use Mabel on a baby recently, but it's definitely growing on me now. it's very happy sounding. I've heard a couple of littlies called Mabel since so have a feeling it's on the rise.

I also know a gorgeous little girl called Morag.

Possibly 2 of the worst names in existence. I just think of Aunty Mabel from 'Go Outside', for me this is 'old lady chic' gone too far.

I knew a Morag when I was little she was as horrible as her name.

Love Mabel - is pretty and feminine. Morag sounds like the name of an old battleaxe - Morag old hag

I love Morag, but it was my mum's name so I'm biased.

I know of 2 Mabels born this year. Def. on the rise and will date along with Ruby and Evie.

Morag sounds very old Scottish lady, living in Cbeebies Balamory!
Mabel whilst still an "old lady name" seems a bit more chic.

Another vote for Mabel. Since having one of my own (DD is 15mo) I have come across loads more - so you might find it starts losing its old-lady connotations soon.

I'm afraid that my pet hate is names at the turn of the century, Hilda, Elsie etc, so you must be muddling me! Mabel is one of the better ones. I like the classic-Sarah, Elizabeth etc Clary (sorry)

Another Scottish person who thinks Morag is an awful ugly name. I had a friend at school called Morag and I felt sorry for her.

Mabel is growing on me. I can see its cuteness but it does have old lady connotations (for me).

I think Morag may be a bit out there is you are not a) Scottish or b) in Scotland!
