Daniel

Vine · 12/08/2010 18:38

Daniel/Danny/Dan all great names. Jude is not nice, sounds girly or one thinks of Judas Shock. It will date too.

chegggersplayspop · 12/08/2010 18:28

I like Daniel, but dislike Danny. Dan is good though.

collision · 12/08/2010 18:27

Jude Daniel......no contest.

Daniel is fine and a good strong name but no one will say Wow! what a fab name. tho it is a great name and no one could fall out with it.

But ..........Jude!

Strong, masculine, unusual, travels well through life so you can see the baby, toddler, teenager, young adult.....

Do the test that DH and i did.....

'This is your captain Jude M....... speaking. We will be taking off in 5 minutes.'

or

'all rise for Judge Jude M........'

Love Daniel and dan but loathe danny. Dan on it's own is a proper name. From the bible one of josephs brothers. Hate jude very pretentious and so many women nicknamed that from Judith

LetThereBeRock · 12/08/2010 18:21

I really think you should put Daniel on the birth certificate, then he has the option of either.

And I really don't like Danny. I think Daniel sounds much better and at least he has two options when he's older.

tweakers · 12/08/2010 18:14

daniel, purely because of possible variations

brimfull · 12/08/2010 18:09

Jude- great name

Shabbychiclover · 12/08/2010 18:06

Can Danny not be a well respected name on its own?I absolutely hate Daniel.

I think Jude is love or hate.

I think I just want approval for the name Danny..I want someone to say 'Well actually my lawyer is called Danny'Grin

What to do.Still going to count mn's votes.Once it's done thats it....

Those two names are my DB's name. That is really wierd. BTW I love Jude, was my maiden name ibv, nad I used it as a middle name for DS2. I vote Jude

Romilly70 · 12/08/2010 16:36

Daniel
(Is much more flexible as he ages, like you said, Baby Danny, teenager Dan, Mr Daniel M-C in work situations.)

Jude is far too trendy for right now (and I am not keen on Jude Law, FWIW....)

Shabbychiclover · 12/08/2010 16:29

Surname is double barrelled.First part begins with M and is Irish second part of surname is English and begins with C.

I am dreading going tomorrow.

Daniel is very dull but adore Dan Dan for a baby/Danny for a young man and also just Dan!

Jude is lovely.Much better than Daniel but not as flexible.(Doesn't have good nn's)

Me and DH are going to count number of votes on this thread late tonight and then decide!Better than flipping a coinGrin

Daniel :)

MollysChambers · 12/08/2010 14:59

Love Jude, love Daniel or Dan - not Danny. Between Danny or Jude then definitely Jude.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 12/08/2010 14:50

I want Jude for my next DC so I'll say Daniel. Wink

chegggersplayspop · 12/08/2010 14:49

Daniel

EvaLongoria · 12/08/2010 14:45

Daniel

LilyBolero · 12/08/2010 14:44

Daniel

moid · 12/08/2010 14:39

Jude - there is a jude at my kids school and he is achingly cool.

I like Daniel as it is timeless, No danny's at the kids schools and a good friend of mine was a Danny.

LadyWellian · 12/08/2010 14:30

I like Jude but I think Daniel is more flexible. We gave DD a 1-syllable name so it couldn't be shortened, and then most of the time ended up doubling it Blush

toja555 · 12/08/2010 14:27

Jude - Daniel sounds too overused for me.
But both are good, which one is matching your surname better?

PaulineCampbellJones · 12/08/2010 14:22

Daniel

montmartre · 12/08/2010 12:46

Jude- it's just lovely

unless your surname is Bude of course.
