I love it and have only met a couple. Is it surprisingly under-used?

I know a 9 year old mixed race girl called India, her dad is British Indian and mum British. It really suits her.

I think it works best if there is a connection to India, either through travelling in India or family.

I know 2, think it's pretty

SecurusScriptor · 09/08/2010 21:26

DD's middle name is India, I know of 2 others. Clearly I think it's a lovley name.

Alwaysworthchecking · 09/08/2010 21:25

It's a lovely name. None in dd's primary school, so far as I'm aware.

I love the name India. I met my husband in India so it has a special connection for us!

cece · 09/08/2010 18:57

My friend has an India and gets asked all the time whether they had a nice holiday in India 9 months before her arrival. Wink I think they find it a little annoying tbh. But nice name!

NorbertDentressangle · 09/08/2010 18:54

I've not heard of it being used recently but in a school near us (small fairly affluent rural town) there are apparently 3 in one small class (all aged about 10 yo) so it was obviously popular then

ragged · 09/08/2010 18:51

I know one who is 4 & lovely, I vote go for it.

Mooos · 09/08/2010 18:39

Why not be different and try Bangladesh?

Flighttattendant · 09/08/2010 18:34

I only know of one. It's a very pretty name but I've never been there, so depending on your connection to the place it would vary as to the connotations it has.

lulabellamozerella · 09/08/2010 18:30

Only know of 1 who is 16/17 and is spelt Indiah... I prefer India spelling and think its lovely!

Marne · 09/08/2010 18:08

I like it, i don't know any children called India and have only heard it a few times. If you like it, go for it.

Reminds me of the baby in Neighbours Blush

scurryfunge · 09/08/2010 18:06

Heard a few in the supermarket....very pretty name but suspect there are plenty of them.
