I already have an Imogen and this is our list for number two pink bump.....

Tabitha
Jemima
Octavia (dh doesn't like)
Clemantine
Lavinia
Lola
Matilta (dh likes)
Amelie
Lottie (don't like Charlotte though)

Would love to know what your opinions are.

Amelie - yes

Others - no

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/08/2010 01:37

I think Lottie is quite severe sounding for a shortened name - if we can have a Tony (and lord knows we did) I think Lottie would make it.

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 09/08/2010 01:24

Tabitha is fantastic
Jemima makes me think of Puddleduck, but I have a friend with an almost-one-year-old Jemima and it works. Neutral.
Octavia (dh doesn't like) you're a Jilly Cooper fan, aren't you? I had my suspicions around "Tabitha".
Clemantine should be spelt Clementine, surely? Don't really like it, makes me think of the song.
Lavinia is nice, but, Lavvy?
Lola is getting very, very, very trendy
Matilta (dh likes) is also getting very trendy, but I like the nn Tildy.
Amelie is lovely
Lottie is a nickname, if you don't like Charlotte I'd stay away from it. Fails the Prime Minister test.

LoubyLoubyLouLa · 09/08/2010 01:01

Sorry it's late and my spelling is sloppy! Clementine and Matilda of course!

laundry I also think of Tabitha as feline
concordia I also think that Matilda is getting popular but dh is Australian and it's a bit of a nod to waltzing...
Ginger I agree Cleemy is awful but not really another nn

I love the name Imogen but that seems to be getting very popular too *sigh!

oh i should add, Imogen is a great name Wink
(from Lou mum to Imogen)

gingerkirsty · 09/08/2010 00:48

OK as I'm still up.... Imogen is gorgeous btw, good choice!

Tabitha - lovely
Jemima - lovely
Octavia (dh doesn't like) - I'm with your DH
Clemantine - lovely but I'd spell it Clementine, and how would you shorten it? I am not a fan of Clemmy as a NN
Lavinia - No
Lola - Lovely but quite popular I think, if that is a factor
Matilta (dh likes) - I have a Mathilda and would think that Matilta was a misspelling, have never heard of it before and think it sounds a bit odd.
Amelie - lovely
Lottie (don't like Charlotte though) - cute but people will assume she is a Charlotte

HTH!

Concordia · 09/08/2010 00:47

i prefer jemima and amelie on your list.
matilda seems to be the next big thing around here (if that bothers you)
i'm not keen on any of your other choices really.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/08/2010 00:47

Well between me and LL, we like them all :)

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 09/08/2010 00:45

Tabitha - quite nice, Tabby is a nice NN
Jemima - sounds smug
Octavia (dh doesn't like) - nor do I
Clemantine - Clementine is the usual spelling, it's a fruit or the daughter of a miner 49er to me
Lavinia - an annoying girl in harry potter
Lola - quite nice but used a lot and a showgirl
Matilta (dh likes) - Matilda? Nice
Amelie - alright but very much of its time and again, there are loads
Lottie (don't like Charlotte though) - perfectly alright

I think Tabitha is the nicest out of these, it goes well with Imogen too. Matilda is second IMO

LaundryLyne · 09/08/2010 00:45

Clementine and Octavia are my favourites from your list and they would go well together if you chose one of them as a middle name. Clementine Octavia would be a lovely name :)

Tabitha - dislike, a cat's name
Jemima - it's OK, I like Jemma as nickname
Octavia - like
Clementine - like
Lavinia - not keen, how about Larissa?
Lola - dislike, what about Laura or Louisa?
Matilda - sorry, dislike again
Amelie - quite nice, prefer Amelia
Lottie (don't like Charlotte though) - not keen
