I like it, and I dont usually like the unusual names.

Not sure on Dud as a potential nn.

LyraSilvertongue · 05/08/2010 00:01

Are you kidding?

Loathe, loathe, loathe. Terrible name. Should never make a comeback.

BelligerentGhoul · 04/08/2010 23:59

It's dreadful, sorry. And I LIKE Harry Potter.

But it is an ugly town, with a horrible zoo.

LaundryLyne · 04/08/2010 23:53

I like Dylan best from the names mentioned so far. Or how about Daniel, Dunstan, Harley, Ethan or Charles/Charlie?

mathanxiety · 04/08/2010 22:02

Deadly

Greensleeves · 04/08/2010 20:27

Dudley = dud

Diggory = graves

Duncan = dunking

CageBird · 04/08/2010 20:24

Hmm, not loving Diggory I'm afraid. I like the way it sounds but it's not for me.

I'm also not a fan of Duncan. Sigh.

Might go back on a campaign with DH for Dylan.

kiwidreamer · 04/08/2010 12:43

Would your DH consider Duncan or Declan... kind of similar sounding and much much MUCH nicer than Dudley!!!

QueenofDreams · 04/08/2010 12:32

Diggory is also a name from the narnia chronicles. (Prefessor Kirke's first name)

Dudley definitely not good. Kids will call him 'dudders' and 'dinky duddydums' like Dudley in HP

Gleeb · 04/08/2010 12:27

I'm not anywhere near pregnant and I want to steal Diggory for my non-existent list now!

Colliecross · 04/08/2010 12:20

I only know one Diggory and he must be 70. Very nice man.
It's a strong name IMO but I suppose would be called Diggz these days. Actually Diggz is a cool name - like it.

ValiumSingleton · 04/08/2010 12:07

I know it's probably ridiculous but diggory sounds excellent to my ear. It sounds like a bob the builder character. somehow i still like it.

Colliecross · 04/08/2010 12:01

Oooh, Diggory is a HP hero.
Dies very young though.Sorry if that ruins the book for anyone.

ValiumSingleton · 04/08/2010 11:15

no. I haven't read HP, and I still say no.

What about Diggory? That is an HP name I think and it sounds a lot better.

Colliecross · 04/08/2010 10:48

Dudley in HP is a massively spoilt bully.
Also called Darling Dudders.
Don't do it.

AngryPixie · 04/08/2010 09:21

cuddly Dudley, makes me cringe, sorry!

pumperspumpkin · 04/08/2010 09:20

Dodloi.

CageBird · 04/08/2010 09:15

OK, it's over. Best go break the news....

OP posts:
littlecharlie · 04/08/2010 09:12

Dudley is a dud name for me.

CageBird · 04/08/2010 09:05

Aah, not a good connotation.

Ok, Dudley's off...

No takers, not one tiny one?

seeker · 04/08/2010 08:58

Not a bad character in HP (that might be OK) - just a horrid one that the reader is encouraged to laugh at because he's spoiled and fat and mean. Like what's his name in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
