Romilly(nn Romy)
Cicely(nn Cece)
Mirren/Mirrin

Middle name will be Claire or Elizabeth (or both) and our surname starts with I.

Only one that I half way like is Romilly. Though not 100% sure how its pronounced.

LuluF · 28/07/2010 08:56

Rom - illy - just like you think it should be.

I love Romilly - we have a 5 year old Romilly and it suits her, so far we haven't met many others. We get lots of positive comments too. We don't tend to shorten it though.

I love Cicely too - it's one my list for number 4 (if it's a girl).

Sakura · 28/07/2010 08:56

Hmmm, Cicely, is it pronounced like Sicily? If so, it might be nice. Out of those I'd choose that one.

Mirin is a Japanese cooking ingredient so not that one for me.

Not keen on Marnie.

marialuisa · 28/07/2010 09:13

The only one i'm not keen on is Mirin. DD has a lovely friend called Marnie (short for Marianne in her case).

emmyloo2 · 28/07/2010 09:21

The only one I like is Romilly. What about Cecily instead of Cicely? Or Cecile? You could still have the nickname Cece.

LaundryLyne · 28/07/2010 09:52

I like Marnie best

I'd go for Cecelia instead of Cicely.

Rockbird · 28/07/2010 10:26

Cecily is nicer than Cicely. Cicely looks wrong.

Kathleen123 · 28/07/2010 10:28

I like Mirren/ Mirrin

Don't like Ciceley, but like Cecelia, if shortened to Celia. My Grandad was called Cecil, and everyone called him Cece. I therefore associate Cece as a boys name.

Don't like Marnie as a name. I think it would be okay, if you named your daughter Marina or Mariana, and used Marnie as a nickname.

Colliecross · 28/07/2010 10:30

Like all these, but Mirren is the best of all. Lovely name Mirren Elizabeth

BelligerentGhoul · 28/07/2010 10:40

I like Cicely a lot. Not fond of the others. I like both Claire and Elizabeth. Cicely Claire sounds best to my ear.

Yes, Cecily is nicer.

cyteen · 28/07/2010 11:10

I love Marnie. Romilly is ok, Cecily/Cicily is wet wet wet. Mirrin is too fantasy-novel-with-dragons (and coming from me, that's saying something).

cumbria81 · 28/07/2010 11:18

Marnie - sounds like a nickname

Romilly(nn Romy)- trying too hard

Cicely(nn Cece)- sounds like an Italian island

Mirren/Mirrin - I quite like this

Rockbird · 28/07/2010 11:23

Just don't use Mirren Helen. She gets on my tits

Mollydoggerson · 28/07/2010 11:25

Cecily for me.

Pasiphae · 28/07/2010 12:09

Ah, I like them all. Hard choice.

Cicely because it's sooo pretty, girly but not frilly, retro and fun.

LuluF · 28/07/2010 13:33

I know someone called Merryn. I think I prefer that to Mirren - not up to me though!

polkadottytotty · 28/07/2010 20:43

Thanks for the feedback everyone - its interesting to hear everyone's opinions and how different they are.

Romilly is BEAUTIFUL, Have just put it as a possible for as yet unnamed dc2. It's definitely my favourite on the list!

deedee321 · 31/07/2010 20:59

my dd is Marnie and I obv think is gorgeous!

Lonnie · 31/07/2010 22:00

Oh I LOVE Marnie it is SUCH a beautiful pretty name

Romily is nice

Cicely(nn Cece) reminds me of Beaches (Bette Midler)

Mirren/Mirrin I see Mirren my head reads Helen. sorry

epithet · 31/07/2010 22:00

Marnie is lovely and underused - my favourite of these, though quite like all four.

polkadottytotty · 01/08/2010 21:08

Thanks everyone - I must admit Marnie is my fav at the moment.

Deedee321 is your dd just Marnie or is it short for anything?
