What do you think about Jasmine?

A latecomer to add to my final list of Florence and Iris....

I think it might be slightly less 'datable' or 'of the moment' as a name which is a good thing i think....

but not Flo or Flossie

ZZZenAgain · 27/07/2010 15:21

I like Florence

rachel234 · 27/07/2010 15:07

Yes, Jasmine is a little less 'elegant' and 'classic' to my ears than Florence and Iris. Also dislike Jaz.

Kathleen123 · 27/07/2010 14:26

I've met two Jasmine's, and neither are Chavvi at all.

They are both mixed race (one is kenyon mum and english dad the other chinese mum and english dad), and because of the Jasmine's I've met, I have always considered it a beautiful exotic name.

wisteria12 · 27/07/2010 13:18

I think Florence and Iris are timeless whereas Jasmine dates easily. Also, I get a chavvy vibe from it.

EightiesChick · 27/07/2010 13:14

Plus I hate that GooGooDolls song.

(OK, going now...)

EightiesChick · 27/07/2010 13:13

PS Nicer than Florence or Iris which will also be dated to the current old-lady-name trend quite quickly.

EightiesChick · 27/07/2010 13:13

Nice - but you must be OK with it being shortened to 'Jas/Jaz' as it will be.

sonniebonnie · 27/07/2010 13:08

Although I hate the term 'chavvy' I have to agree that Jasmine does sound a little chavvy to my ears....

...Florence and Iris are much, much more elegant and classy imo.

Polly1987 · 27/07/2010 13:06

Sorry, girls - I find it quite chavvy?? Like Jade??

LolaKnickers · 22/07/2010 19:46

agree with noellefielding and miamix - dated to around 10 years ago, along with Amber and other names of that era.

Kathleen123 · 22/07/2010 14:57

Love the name Jasmine, but love Iris even more.

Firawla · 22/07/2010 14:50

really pretty

telsa · 22/07/2010 14:12

Jasmine is gorgeous - with nns Minnie, Jazzy, Mina, Jam, Jammy, Smi, Jim etc. Much nicer than the other names on your list - prettier and less common.

boodleboot · 22/07/2010 11:19

what i mean by that is that its nice to have all the different skin colours represented by the disney princesses now....most little girls like princesses and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!

"little girls all need a princess to look like!"?

Jasmine a bit boring really IMO. Not my cup of tea.

Do like Tamsin though

boodleboot · 20/07/2010 23:26

i love minnie as a nickname...and our little one will be mixed heritage so most likely dark eyed and dark haired so princess jasmine is a nicee connotation for me...little girls all need a princess to look like!

have to see which she looks like most....

(bet HE looks like a george!!)

Im glad I saw this thread. Its my DD's middle name and sometimes i wonder to myself 'what was I thinking - must have been the hormones?' but everyone saying how nice it is had made me warm to it again

flibbertigibbert · 20/07/2010 22:49

i think it's lovely. I'd shorten it to Minnie or Mina rather than Jas though

pregnantteen · 20/07/2010 22:41

my friend called her baby boy boris!

Lougle · 20/07/2010 22:35

I have a Jasmine. She is almost 3. Love it.

pregnantteen · 20/07/2010 22:34

Tortoise · 20/07/2010 22:32

I like it.

Needanewname · 20/07/2010 22:31
