I love it - it's the name of one of the characters in one of my favourite books; Jem FInch in To Kill a Mockingbird. As others have said I like Jem Alexander and Jem Isaac is also lovely.

CapitalText · 18/07/2010 19:16

Your surname isn't Beadle, is it?

violethill · 18/07/2010 19:11

Jem is definitely a male name, but IME it's always an abbreviation, never a name in its own right.

00000000000000 · 18/07/2010 19:11

jem is a shortening of jeremy. it's not really a name in it's own right.

alexander would be good-jeremy alexander

jeremy george

but jem? jem stone?

CapitalText · 18/07/2010 19:09

Is Jem going to be short for something?

mumofEandE · 18/07/2010 15:57

The only Jem I know is male - in his 30s.

Jem, far far too feminine.

ima?

Mahraih · 18/07/2010 15:24

I'd be tempted to use something with a consontant so it flows better.

Like Terrance or ... Robert. Or something with more thought behind it.

valiumSingleton · 18/07/2010 15:05

I have a relative called Jem. It's a boys name. Obviously a short form of Jeremy, but Jem is like chris or alex or sam. Could be short for Jeremy or Jemima.

SagacityNell · 18/07/2010 15:05

I don't like it as a boys name sorry.

Opens him up for HUGE bullying without much thought at all.

valiumSingleton · 18/07/2010 15:04

Alexander

TotorosOcarina · 18/07/2010 15:03

Butty?

Sorry, just don't think its a good name for a boy, girl yes, boy no.

lucybrad · 18/07/2010 15:01
