What do you think of the boys name Bracken?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Maisiethemorningsidecat · 18/07/2010 20:21

Nice for a pet, perhaps! Along the lines of Clover, Bramble, that type of thing.

pranma · 18/07/2010 20:02

I knew ponies named Bracken and Bramble-cant imagine Bracken as a human name.

venusonarockbun · 18/07/2010 19:30

Noooooo - its the name of that horrible weed thats taking over the country.

bigstripeytiger · 18/07/2010 19:28

It makes me think of ponies. Sorry.

violetsmile · 18/07/2010 19:27

True but all names start somewhere, in a hundred years Bracken could have been around for aeons.

It's nice, that's all.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 18/07/2010 16:37

But they are traditional names that have been around for aeons. Dandelion, Conifer or Pampas anyone?!

violetsmile · 18/07/2010 16:11

Heather, lily, rose, Ivy, Holly are all types of vegetation but are all valid names puddinghead!

violetsmile · 18/07/2010 16:10

I love it! I have never heard of anyone using it but it is one of the names I suggested to dh for ds. Still may be a possible for ds2. Go for it!!! Ignore the dog, pony comments, it's a lovely name and once he's born noone will ever think of him being alled anything else!

GladioliBuckets · 17/07/2010 19:26

It's the CBeebies rabbit isn't it? Or is it Blue Peter? Or a sheepdog.

sophieandbelly · 17/07/2010 17:58

beacon,springs to mind

CuppaTeaJanice · 17/07/2010 17:16

A smelly plnt that grows in the woods.

puddinghead · 17/07/2010 16:58

Oh dear, it's a type of vegetation not a child's name (in my view).

MilkNoSugarPlease · 17/07/2010 16:44

Erm, I LOVE it!

champagnesupernova · 17/07/2010 16:42

First pony I rode was called Bracken
Sorry

Shaz10 · 17/07/2010 16:40

Tinasparkles I bet you watch Doctors all the time. Nice try on the mat leave excuse.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 17/07/2010 16:40

I know quite a few pets with that name...not for a child, sorry.

Easywriter · 17/07/2010 16:39

Yuk!

I'm thinking hippies, the smell of patchouli and sweat.

I'm thinking long handknitted stripy jumpers, boots made of the finest PVC and not a bacon butty in sight.

Oh just realised this isn't AIBU.
Soz!

But come on, you can do better than that.

MrsJohnDeere · 17/07/2010 16:37

'Springer spaniel' was my first thought too!

QueeferSutherland · 17/07/2010 16:35

Um, it is a pony's name I think.

Prefer Brandon.

I always think Briar is a lovely girls name.

CapitalText · 17/07/2010 16:08

Sounds like a pet's name.

zenoushka · 17/07/2010 16:03

I'm sorry I really don't like it, plus I knew a girl who had a pony called Bracken...

Quality · 17/07/2010 16:01

It was my first dogs name.

SimplySparkling · 17/07/2010 16:00

I agree with Smac and hairytriangle.
