Violette and other names that don't end in 'a'.

I quite like Violette for a girl. Is that spelling ok?

Looking for a girls name that doesn't end in 'a'. Quite like:

Irene (thinking 'European chic' rather than permed older lady)!
Imogen
Carine
Jennifer (a bit dull)?
Joan (I know it's an old lady name, but could be cool)?
Mathilde (not sure of spelling)
Evangeline
Adelaide/Adeline
Madeleine
Caroline
Jacqueline (although will this inevitably be Jackie)? I think this is a lovely name and maybe due a revival? Maybe not quite yet though.

Not keen on Juliet/Juliette, Mary or Marie.

My Mother is calles Violetta and she HATES it. She has always been known as a nickname.

From your list I'd pick Jennifer. Then again I'm a bit traditional when it comes to names. If I had a girl I'd call her Catherine, Jane, Elizabeth

Without hearing it beforehand, i'd pronounce it Vee-oh-Let-uh. Which i think is very pretty.

I love all your other names also, particularly Adelaide/Adeline.

I know a Violette - lovely name, but the mother IS french.

What about Hazel, I have a Madeleine as well. One nut and one cake

Caroline is gorgeous. Classy and underused.

Kate is simple and timeless.

Adelaide is rather lovely too bt I'd fear many shortenings and the full name not really being used.

I rather like Jane myself. Elegantly simplistic rather like Kate.

Or, Agnes, I love this.

I love Adelaide. It dances on the tongue.
Violette is cool too.
Evangeline is sweet.

I find the others too old, but not dusty enough to be retro, or old lady chic.

I'm a Violet, I like it now but when I was younger it was very unpopular and I hated it. I think it's lovely now I am older and it seems to be more used now.

I don't like it spelled Violette though, looks like you'd need to prounounce it in a french accent to me!

I love Rachael and Kate from Mrs Badgers list.
