I think Sebastian is a lovely name

Hedwig3 · 15/07/2010 14:16

Lovely name.

Don't tell anyone until he is here.

flopsy1974 · 15/07/2010 09:37

A nice name. Nothing wrong with it. I was expectibg to open the post and see a silly name.

maryqueenofyachts · 14/07/2010 21:40

I was expecting something awful! Nowt wrong with Sebastian!

DingALongCow · 14/07/2010 20:19

Love it, but another mother of a Sebastian here!

Whelk · 14/07/2010 20:07

I love the name Sebastian. Excellent choice!

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 14/07/2010 20:03

Love it - married one

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/07/2010 20:01

Love it! Seb's a cool name as well and if they don't like it, too bad. Did they consult you before naming their children?

janeite · 14/07/2010 20:00

It's a fab name. Don't like Seb but love Sebastian and Bastian.

rubyslippers · 14/07/2010 19:59

Fabulous name IMO

Fleecy · 14/07/2010 19:56

I have a Sebastian - we both loved it but thought people might be a bit and then decided we didn't really care that much and used it anyway.

I agree it's best not to tell people beforehand as most people will be too polite to say if they don't like it once he's here! And they'll grow to love it as they get to know him.

gibbberish · 14/07/2010 19:42

Absolutely love it! Was one of my choices but we never had a boy to use it.

squeaver · 14/07/2010 19:40

One of the nicest (and most handsome) men I know is called Sebastian.

catftm · 14/07/2010 19:39

thanks all, i dont really care what people think as im definetely going for the name, i suppose it because the baby isnt here yet so it feels weird and for some reason i expect a negative reaction even though i love the name. He is due in a week though so once i have a baby called sebastian it wont feel weird saying his name.

love it - good name and seb is ok aswell

thought you were going to say Hunter..

nagoo · 14/07/2010 19:18

Don't tell anyone until your DS is here.

People do a face if they don't like it they think they can change your mind before the child is born.

After, they just smile and nod, and you can have the name you like.

I do like it BTW.

deeply · 14/07/2010 19:17

Sebastian is a wonderful, fantastic, gorgeous name. Say it with massive pride in your excellent taste in names. Go Sebastian!!!!

jellybeans · 14/07/2010 19:17

I really don't like it but that shouldn't matter to you, lots of people didn't like my DS name. Some names are love/hate names and I think this is one as is my DS and one of my DDs names. I don't know why I don't like it but think it just seems abit long, little britain nd the 'bast' bit. They are the only reasons and it's just personal taste not that it is a horrible name. If you like it then stick with it. If everyone liked your choice of name it would probably be far too popular so it's kind of a good thing?

poppydaisy · 14/07/2010 19:14

I happen not to like it, especially Seb (reminds me of sebacious = oily), but who cares what we think! But I agree, if you are worried about people's reaction, are you sure you it is the right name?

Adair · 14/07/2010 19:09

Oh, I like it. Agree though that it doesn't matter what other people think if you love it.

Seb is nice too.
Oh, and The Never-ending Story 'Bastien! SAY MY NAME!'

Shaz10 · 14/07/2010 19:09

Don't tell them until he's here. People tend not to have opinions when it's the name of a real life baby.

QueenofDreams · 14/07/2010 19:07

I love it!
it's my DS's name as well though, so I am biased.
TBH I only had a negative reaction from my brother, but he's an idiot anyway. Everyone else loved it

Gigantaur · 14/07/2010 19:06

If you are worried about people's reactions are you sure its the name you want?

I personally wouldn't ive a rats squeaky brown bit but if you do then maybe you would be happier to find an alternative.

I dont think too many raised eyebrows with Sebastian though, its nice
